Default Collectible Classics Auction?

Anyone see this in the most recent SCD? Anyone know the folks doing the auctioning? There's some nice vintage stuff and caramel in the auction. Just wondering. The website doesn't work worth a #$%^&*(. Just brings up Collectible Classics Auction in allcaps with no links..............couldn't raise them on the phone yesterday. Busy all the time............any ideas?

I was able to get through last weekend, and put my name on their list for the catalog. They told me that they are experiencing some difficulties with the web page, but still hope to have it up shortly.

They've had problems with the website in their previous two auctions, also. Eventually they did get it up and working. Don't expect an Ebay or Mastro type of website, and it is slow to load, but it does work. I was able to get the website to load, but it had the info from the last auction on it.

I found the info from /www.accesswhois.com/ where I found out who owned the website. These folks are top notch dealers. I didn't recognize the name until I was talking to Judy. I've bought vintage stuff from them for 4-5 years at Nationals.......that's about all the show's they do. They are friends of Lipset's and I think a couple of the items are consigned from him. Anyway, she said the website would be up on the 10th.

They had 4-5 OJ's and some cabinets. Lots of other Caramel stuff and other items. I will try to post the 19th century stuff they've got later tonite. I don't have the auction info here........they do have nice stuff though. I've bought a bunch of OJ's from them. I don't think the one's in their auction were particularly difficult NAMES, although they may be poses you don't have though........FYI........Tom

I just got off of the phone with Judy, at the auction. She was very pleasant and said her husband, John, actually helps Lew with his auctions. I have spoken with him many times in that case. I never really knew who "John" was at Lew's auctions but this is who he is (the proprietor of this one). She said they set up at the Nationals last year and will have 2 booths this year. Anyway, she also said that they are hoping to get more catalogues in by this weekend and if you are on Lew's mailing list you "should" get one. Your bidder number will be on the shipping label. If you want to be a part of this auction I suggest you give them a call as a "should" is not a "positive". I called and left my number 2 days ago but figured I would call back today. Glad I did.....there is one auction lot I NEED in a bad way..(it's not caramel or OJ)....best regards all.......

John and Judy are both FANTASTIC people. Dad and I have known them for a good while and have purchased a number of cards and some memorabilia from them over the years. John was a collector back in the days when you could find a lot of the obscure issues, and if I remember correctly he was a type collector (preferred Pirates material) and collected some really NICE stuff. His prices are fair (which prompts many of the big auction house cronies to 'flock' to him during set up) and I feel that his grading is honest and conservative. I hope that I have not just increased my bidding competition for items in his next auction ----

Terry

I thought they said they were getting them last weekend. Since I'm in the state just east of them, I though I might have mine by now (although with my VCBC history I know that rule doesn't always work ).

I see they've made a minor adjustment to their website, too, and it says they're still shooting for the 15th to be functional.

shooting for the 10th. I talked to Judy and she said she was having problems with the programming for the site. Said it would be up on the 10th but looks like they're having some problems with making that date.

I just spoke to Judy who said that the catalogs were supposed to have been sent out bulk mail by the printer late last week, but they haven't gotten theirs yet either, so it should arrive in a day or two (hopefully). She already had my name on the mailing list even though I never contacted her before, and she confirmed that she probably had it because they have Lew Lipset's mailing list. So if you are on Lew's list you should get it.

Anyone have comments on how fairly they grade their material. If they have any items (cards) questionably trimmed, is it stated?

Tim
