It includes common in 5 or better, HoFer, card valued 2x the slot price (or higher). I actually think the number is a bit conservative, but did not want to over-state it.

Sean wouldn't this be much better to have it's own section like the auctions you and Greg tried?

The net54 group break sold out in 14 hours and 3 weeks later is still getting bumped. In 14 hours you have sold less than 25 of 456 spots. I do not think this is fair to people trying to buy/sell/trade in this section for you to have this thread that could last for months.

EDIT was to change the length of time to what it really was, my mistake. Sean PMed me saying he had contacted Leon and offered to pay for his own thread so I guess this is the proper place for it. Good luck to all participating in the break.

That is not up to me. Also, I am a little confused as this thread has not been up for 24 hours.

If you hit a big card, we would need to talk (I can't cover customs). But if you did not get a hit, it should not be a problem.

Here is a group photo. I am getting scans done over the next couple days, but it is a relatively slow process.

I am sure it is. I mistakenly thought you meant you would have them prior to opening it up.
With 45% of the cards being 1 or A, I have to hold back until I see scans.

To be clear Sean (hi Sean) is not paying for this thread. He offered to pay for one on the front page and I said I didn't want one there except for the one's Nick does. We agreed he would do one here but there is no Net54baseball cost to him for doing it. Sean has my support in doing it as it seems a lot of members like these.
Just like everything we do we will re-evaluate what we have done after it's over. I do see an issue with the number of bumps to this particular thread relative to the other guys trying to sell or trade a card or two in other threads.

Sean,

I think your thought process is correct. A T206 "group lottery" is a good idea. I think you have missed on the items below:

80% of the cards are below a "2" grade or lower. I think a $65 price point is to high.

At this price, 456 slots is going to be tough to sell out.

The 54 Topps sold out in 14 hours mainly because most people felt like the odds vs the price point was good.

Again, I applaud your effort and idea. You just may want to re-think the cost.

Mark

A chance to win a really high dollar item might help too -- perhaps one of the attractions of the 54 set was that for 13 bucks you could win a pretty nice Aaron rookie.

I put in an extra $5k value in top hits up and above the set. If it was just t206s the price point could be dropped significantly. Assuming we have the issue selling out I could redo the actual break and change a significant amount of things.

There are 2 $1k hits and plenty in the $300 and up range. I may just need to drop the price point and remove the added hits.

IMO opinion you would do better (assuming you want to keep the same profit structure) putting the money in some of the 300 dollar items into one big prize worth several K. The big prize is usually what motivates lottery buyers.

By reducing the size of the break and removing those big hits I should be able to get a price point $15 lower and still using the same (if not better) hit ratio. I will check back responses tomorrow before updating anything else.

Yeah.. The math doesnt work here for a t206 Break does it? Maybe something like the format below a possibility? A smaller break with many many raw commons and only a couple of hits? The price point wold still be high but I think I would take a chance if the price point were below $50.

90 raw commons * $15 = $1350
5 Graded PSA 3 * $50 = $ 250
3 Graded PSA 5 * $100 = $ 300
1 Graded PSA 6 * $250 = $ 250
1 Graded HOF * $1000 = $1000

Value of break $3150 / 100 = $31.50 Per Card
Slots cost $40 * 100 = $4000
Seller Profit App. $400-$500

That's pretty in-line with what I did, believe it or not these are much harder than you would think to put together with a reasonable value for the slot price even only making about 10-12%. For instance accounting for shipping on 100 packages turns the approx profit into $100~ after supplies and negative after labor.

What it boils down to is that I could put together 5 or 6 100 slot breaks and I tried to go too big too fast. I think it would be incredibly hard to put one together at much less than the $50 price point (as everything I have is graded).

I am in the process of putting something together and will get it posted after further thought and hopefully after I can get the math to make sense.
