Picked up my first Sovereign back and I am now down to only 8 cards to complete my St. Louis Browns team set.

I have also decided to do a T205 Bresnahan 'Mouth Closed' back run. Just added this American Beauty back and already have a Piedmont Factory 42 & Polar Bear. Half way there!

With the exception of the Gleason, all OJs that also present very well. Looks like you are amassing a nice collection of N172s.

This postcard has been something of a holy grail for me the past two years.

Very glad to pick it up. However, the fact that the back looks like this...

Pretty much makes this the ark of the covenant and the holy grail rolled up into a nice neat little 3 1/2 by 5 1/2 cardboard package.

One I've always wanted. Off register and a little wrinkly, but it fit my price range! It must mean something that I like the t205's and the Topps 72's. Maybe it's because they go with my velvet Elvis portrait so well.

Down to only 3 needed for the 1931 Zeenut set (Freitas, Uhalt, Vitt).

I like some of the neater poses (many of the L.A. players are interesting)...

Picked this up this week. Dunno much about it, other that it's 1870-1890. Perhaps someone can enlighten me, and also give a value? 3-5/16 x 5-5/16

Default 2 cards from Heritage

Such quick shipping - thanks!

Added another Oberlander to my collection and I have been looking for a T207 Pelty in my price range for a bit of time. I understand the Cycle back is rare(r), but this is only my second T207 and I don't know a lot about set.

Thanks, I hope I don't regret it. I paid just over half what the card sold for in 2008 albeit in a higher (6) grade flip.

Really happy you got it. Was watching it yesterday and it didnt move much at all, maybe a 100 bucks. I was expecting it to go well over 7500 or more in some late snipes. a true 1/1 despite the story of re-slabbing it and got a lower grade.

I am not trying to cause a problem or anything like that, but did you look at the bidding on that card? The only other bidder over $2,567 put in a bid at $6,000 that was later retracted. I wondered if something was up when the high bid was at $5,600, then dropped $5,100 later in the auction.

Again, not trying to rain on an awesome pick-up. But the bidding history by the underbidder looks kinda scary.

Yeah, I warned Raymond on that possible issue (shill?) I warn that it look like there were several bids (at the time) in small increments, possible of a shill to see where his max bid was at.
I was the underbidder with that 2567 bid. It does look like a retraction was done, i remember seeing more bids than its showing now.
It looks like e***4(2368) bidded it up and saw Raymond's max, then retracted, then later bidded it back up to the max the following day. Looks fishy indeed.

Picked this one up via feebay earlier this month, just back from Beckett this afternoon. As far as I can tell there is only one graded higher by any TPG.

The link shows that the "2368" bidder retracted a bid of $6,000, then bid back up to $5,400 after making the retraction. That is a lot of money in an auction that looks like it was shilled.

Cool Thorpe postcard. I own one of the three copies of that postcard that PSA has graded (PSA 4). I know postcards aren't everyone's thing, but it still amazes me how cheap the various Thorpe postcards that pre-date his M101-5 card remain. I think you made out pretty well with that purchase. I paid more than that for my copy several years ago.

I am kinda hoping there aren't a whole lot more of that postcard still in Sweden that are going to hit the market.

Holy smokes! Awesome! Al, with this Dihigo and the 1910 Punch Jose Mendez you posted in the other thread, you might as well take a 10-year break! Just enjoy those two cards!!

I never knew that the Mollorquina issue was so small. It reminds me of the 1930 Baguer Chocolates.

Congrats!

Thanks.. has been an expensive month or so to say the least.

I decided to focus more on building my CARD collection, so mixing up the collection a bit and slimming my dupes, photos, etc. to fund this initiative!!

Yeah, the Mallorquina is similar to the Baguer Chocolates. I have a complete set in an "uncut proof sheet" and it actually fits in the largest Beckett holder (100 cards)!

If it were larger, I may consider it one of the five most important negro league cards, but here I think that "SIZE MATTERS" and would place it just outside of the top 5. Not to "talk down" the importance of this card, but it is my real opinion. Super cool, nonetheless!

Al

Waited a few months for this one to come down in BIN price. Finally happened, worth the wait:

Bransfield, No P on shirt. Much tougher than P on shirt card (HAHA "P on shirt" giggle, giggle , nothing wrong with a little second grade humor once in a while )

Fun, fun, Scott

Two freshly graded Cobbs. Quite happy with the 2. Was expecting an A or 1. Paper loss, creases, etc. The M116? No clue. I was expecting a 2 or 3 MK. There is a back stamp and faint pencil on the front. It seemed to measure correctly. At least my main focus isn't M116 Cobbies.
