Default SCG Authentic Question

I would only buy AUT cards that were very scarce or impossible to find in any condition If money was an issue, I would rather have a low grade example. DK

Default SCG Authentic Question

Ruth....NO
Murphy...YES
Matty...YES!!
Wiltse...NO

I have no problem with "A" cards that otherwise appear high grade. I see it as an opportunity to get a very nice looking card at a fraction of the cost of one that is not trimmed. If it is trimmed AND looks like crap, I'll pass.

Default SCG Authentic Question

my advice is if the grade is authentic decide for yourself if you like the way the card looks.decide on a price, as compared to what a graded card would sell for in the condition you'd like it in. if the price is what you would pay ,buy it. the card is real and that is really the important issue. the grade is just an opinion by a grader. some people enjoy having a high # grade on a card even if the card is trimmed.sometime aut cards are resubmitted and do recieve a grade. remember that grading is subjective no matter who does it.

Most strip cards are graded "A" for Authentic and this is normal. Its not because they are trimmed or restored, its mainly because they are handcut and SGC cant determine when they were cut (80 years ago, 20 years ago, 1 month ago???).

Default SCG Authentic Question

I would buy cards graded authentic.

Actually some of my favorites I have owned (including my current favorite) - graded SGC Authentic.

Funny though... if the reason for 'authentic' was an attempt to deceive, I get turned off by it. Deceptive trimming bothers me more than if a card had obvious restoration and the restoration was noted.
