Any good card shops with vintage in LA / OC?

Does anyone know of any good card shops that have vintage cards in the Los Angeles or Orange County area? I'm in town a few days on vacation. Looking specifically for tobacco and caramel issues. Any help would be appreciated.

There are a few left...Beverly Hills Baseball is still pretty good for vintage...

If you want a massive selection of 1949-present you can try Burbank Sportscards. Rob has been in business forever and his store is the most organized I have ever been in.

If you want that old time baseball card store feel in a tiny little shop with bad lighting and cardboard smell then try Valley Baseball Cards in Tarzana. Changed owners a few years back but every now and then I will stop by and usually find an oddball vintage card or a bargain on some things (about three years ago I stopped by on a whim and found a t205 in the bargain bin for $7 and a e93 in the case for a good price). They also have a decent selection of 50s and 60s Topps and oddballs in the back.

If you are going South of Los Angeles, Southbay Cards in Torrance/Lomita is very good. Not a lot of prewar but a few. They do have a lot of PSA/SGC material and a few oddballs...the owner is a good guy too (Ian).

Now...the its a drive and you never know card stores...
There used to be a shop in Claremont (1 hour east of downtown LA) that was in an historic building who used to have a bit of vintage. I once bought 13 '33 goudeys at $3 apiece there about five or six years ago (nice ones too!). Do not remember the name of the shop.

Not sure but south of Orange County in Costa Mesa there used to be a shop. Had a bunch of '40s-70s material including oddball. Again, cannot remember the name of the shop but if I recall it was on Costa Mesa Bl.

Have not been to Frank and Sons Warehouse show in a while but they used to have a few dealers with vintage. It runs twice a week if I recall and is located in Whittier. They used to have a webpage but it has been awhile since I checked it.

Those are the ones off the top of my head.

Frank & Sons shows are now every week, on Wednesday evenings and all day Saturday. There are a handful of vintage sellers. I haven't been there in awhile, but i remember there being some pretty nice stuff from time to time. Most of the vendors, though, deal in either toys or other odd collectibles. If you check out the website below and show up this Saturday you can get an auto of Corey Haim! WooHoo!

I know of one card shop in Costa Mesa, but I have never walked in there. It's near the corners of Newport Boulevard and 17th Street- I believe it's on the corners of Fullerton and 17th in an older retail building.

I live about 1/2 mile from there and have been a customer since they opened (1986?). Not much in prewar but just outstanding people, Ian and his son Scott. The kind of guys who will open a good pack of new cards and give them to kids.

Every time I visit I buy something...even if I don't need it. Then shoot the breeze about sports or our families. Just trying to support the type of shop owners who didn't forget how to treat customers.

Hell, a couple months ago I had a radical type of surgery (then got infected and had to repeat it). Scott found out through a friend and sent me over a box of cards as a get well present.

I just can't say enough about this family!

I ended up visiting about 4 or 5 stores and the Frank and Sons Show. Frank and Sons is definitely not the place for vintage or cards in general.

The best stop of the trip was our last stop at Bevery Hills Cards. Awesome time as my wife and I spent over an hour going through a great selection of T206s and talking with Matt about the hobby, vintage cards, and things to do in town. We ended up picking up a Cobb and a bunch of commons for a great price. I would highly recommend this store to anyone passing through LA. We will definitely go back next time we are in town.

Last time I checked, the Baseball Card Dugout in Anaheim on Beach Blvd. was still there. I believe they are the longest running shop in Orange County, Val and Joe Lester own it.

Baseball Card Dugout is history. It is now OC Dugout. Joe no longer owns it. OC Dugout is now in back of the original store and just opened yesterday.

As a Topps collector, Burbank Sportscards used to be my favorite store in the country. But, it was a sad day when I discovered that they have turned into nothing more than a front for their website. It's no longer possible to go thru the boxes by hand looking for the cards you want. Looking for a variation? Nope not at BSC you aren't.
