Default 1930's White Sox ID help needed

Posted By: Rhett Yeakley

I picked up a group of George Burke Stamps the other day, and can't for the life of me figure out who this player is. Would be in the 1935-37 range. They were all White Sox players in the group.
Any help is appreciated.

It sure looks like "Dom Gulli" but I can't find him in the Player Register. I teach school and I can usually figure out the handwriting!!

Is it possible that he never actually had an at bat or a pitch in the Bigs?

Next step would probably be to see if there is a set list for these.

You have roused my curiosity.

Good luck!
RC

This site doesn't list him either, there is a Tom Gulley from '26.

Probably a minor leaguer who came to Spring Training with the White Sox in 1935 and never made the major leagues.

you're probably right because i can't find a record of anyone named Vito Paradiso ever playing in the majors either unless the last name is misspelled.

I'm glad you received the stamps (a liitle feedback never hurts). I was unable to identify either player; I'll be interested to see if anyone comes up with anything. Unsuccessful areas were:
1. Major League Player - no record (Baseball-reference)
2. Minor League Player - no record (Minor League Player Database, goes back to 1929)
3. Coach or team personnel - there were some team trainers/doctors in the other stamps I didn't sell you but nothing turned up in old rosters, media guides, references.
4. Checklist of the set - I don't think one exists. George Burke's assistant/partner George Brace continued his photography work for years, the archives lists are available at Brace Photo - nothing turned up there either.
5. Some friend of George Burke's that he threw in for fun? - maybe so.
Good luck in the quest.
