Default E90-1 Cy Young (Cleveland)

I'm looking for some opinions on this card:

Every time I look at an example of this card, I fail to see it as actually being Denton T. (Cy) Young. It simply doesn't look (to me) like him.

Do any of you have any information about this card actually picturing someone else (like the E98, etc... Cy Youngs all having the same picture if Irv Young)? Or is this actually Denton T. (Cy) Young, and I'm just not seeing it?

Thank you.

Steve

If it looks at all like him, the resemblance is slight. Not so unusual for cards of that era though, there are a number of examples of this phenomenon in the T and E sets.

Looks more like Shoeless Joe to me...

Cheers,

It's not that it looks like a different player - it just is a very crude drawing - like something my 5 year old would do.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I beleive this card, along with the E97 Cy Young, features Irv Young instead of Cy

Unlike E97 and E98 I don't think this is Irv and think it is a very crude Cy. This picture looks like he is throwing right handed. His "Irv" cards have him throwing left handed.

Default I also think it's Denton T. "Cy" Young

Here's a T3 for comparison. Note the drawing of the stitches on the uniform on his shoulders:

I remember not long after I started this thread, someone posted a picture of Irv Young in another thread, that matched the image on the E90-1 card, only in reverse. In other words, the E90-1 is simply a reversed, mirror image of Irv Young. It is not Denton T. Young.

I found the thread. See the first post in the linked thread:

That card is a great example of why I favor photographic-type images of players, when available (and I will defer to more knowledgable members on that subject with regard to the availability of those featuring Cy Young--I can only think of his E107 and Just So Tobacco (?) at the moment). Which is, of course not to say at all that you shouldn't buy what you like.

Best wishes,

Larry

Add Fan Craze, National Game, Tom Barker, and W600 at least.
