Default I made a Homer Simpson Baseball Card out of Junk Mail

You've heard of junk wax cards ... how about junk mail cards?

Have you ever been thankful for a piece of junk mail? Me neither, that is, until a few days ago. When it came in, I knew the material looked familiar. I held it up to a 2011 Topps Diamond Anniversary card, and sure enough - it was the same material ... just green!

When I started doing customs, I would always look at different materials and wonder to myself what could be used to create customs that would be fun. No joke, I'd literally be standing in the shower looking at the curtain and think to myself "Man, that may look really cool as a baseball card! Showerfractor!!!"

I thought I'd go ahead and do something with this piece of junk mail, so I flattened it out.

Cut off the bends

Made a 2.5" x 3.5" rectangle

And used some artwork I had of Homer Simpson - you may remember me doing a fun 1993 SP mock up of this years ago. This was a 2 AM project for me, so I thought I'd use it for this.

Here it is - a Homer Simpson Junk Mail custom card. I wanted it to show the wording and credit card graphic a bit so it could tell a story of what it was.

I'm still laughing about this one It was fun creating this out of something that would have been thrown away normally.

That's awesome. Have you done a Jose Canseco card from his appearance on the Simpsons?

Thank you pokerplyr80! I have ... check this out

When I went to Jose's house, I had him sign it, personalizing it to Mrs. Krabappel. He was confused at first, and then I started to tell him, then he quickly remembered Here is an article I wrote about it:

I also did a fun spoof article on Homer at the Bat when I shaved off my 'stache here: https://tanmanbaseballfan.com/2017/0...-simpsons.html

Last but not least, Topps actually created a card (the only licensed card I know of) that talks about his Simpsons appearance. I was able to pick up the Wood 1/1 "Cartoon Hero" - I'm still pretty freakin' stoked about it:

That's great. I remember watching that episode as a kid. I was a huge Ken Griffey Jr fan and was pretty excited to see him on my favorite show. If I remember correctly he took some tonic that made his head huge. Or maybe that was Daryl Strawberry. Either was it was a great episode.
