These seem to be less active over on this Board, but I thought I'd get us started...

I finally acquired one of my faves! This is a monster card of the 1960s, in my opinion. (not mine, specifically, but the card itself)...

Mostly been buying pre WW1 the last few weeks, but did pick up a couple of upgrades for my Dan Dee set. I apologize for the bad scans, the cards are on their way so I pulled the sellers scans

And I got this pack I've been looking for for a long time. Just need '52 and '56 nickel packs for the full Topps regular issue run.

Tell me honestly...did you buy it just because you like the Alan Rosen Roast on the reverse of the pack? That has to be worth a 40-50% premium, at least.

LOL. I have Mike and Danny some s**t about that, I've got 4 or 5 other packs with that on the back. I told them it hurt the value of the pack at least 40% having that on there. They laughed, and then offered to reholder them for me if it really bothered me.
I think I read his million dollar find came out to something like 350K when all sold. I did consider negging the seller I got some of the packs from (his outlet, B & E), but figured that wasn't really fair.

Brazil -- great looking card. Seems to me a lot of 64 Giants have held up well over the years.

Anthony -- you and a few others on here are going to make a pack collector out of me.

I'm not a fan of the centering on that one. It may actually be 49/51 from L/R. Can you still return it?

Congratulations on a phenomenal pickup

Bob,

Too much empty space on the right half of the card -- What, they needed to use half the card just to show his bat!?!? Yellow text, white text...yellow again...white. Geez, who thought of that?!

...But truly, terrific looking card. Restores my faith to see something like that. Congrats!

Thanks boys!

I got to see this card in person at the National, and I was floored by how nice it looked.

Marc,
I'll send it back and see if they can add an "OC" qualifier to it.
Bob

I cant see the corners too well...but they LOOK great. The 57 mantle looks stunning. What stopped it from being a mint grade,I wonder?? The back?
That is a bee-yoo-tiful card!

Jason,

Some guy was airbrushed out of the background of the card. The ghost is on every '57 Topps Mantle I've seen, however, I hesitate to say it's on all of them. Does anybody know for sure?

Peter C.
