Wow Chris! You are on a serious roll this month! Great stuff!! How's that T206 HOFer set going btw? I haven't really had a chance to check since I sold mine off.

Thanks. It's going ok. I still need 7 more. I'm watching a couple that I need. They end in the next day or so. Hopefully I can add to that set too.

Default May Pickups: Willie Mays

Hello,

I'm a new member, so I figured the best way to get started was to share a few pickups.

Just in from the 'bay. Couldn't figure the Beckett 4 grade until I got it in hand-pull marks along the left border, plus the ragged left edge (wonder if that and the marks are related) and the o/c knocked it to VG-EX status, which still makes it one of the nicer Bums in my collection!

Nice card Dave. Did you already free it from the BVG slab? I ask because I just received a 56 Campy in a BVG slab graded 4.5 and want to free it but those holders are like tanks and I would not know where to begin. It is my first BVG slab.

It was surprisingly easy. I used a pair of needlenose plies to clip the top 2 corners with no flying shards or anything (I held it under my desk as I had no goggles). Then I carefully clipped a corner of the very snug baggie and worked a scissor blade sideways into the cut (parallel to the card and lifting up so the pressure from the blade was on the baggie) and slowly sliced one end open (the baggies are like PSA holders, they have rails except at the corners). Not a lot of room for error clipping the baggie but I pulled it off. Patience, patience....
