Default Oakland A's

Down to the last game with Oakland trying for the Division crown. I looked at their teams individual player stats - like nobody super all-star caliber hitting or pitching. De Ja Vu - MoneyBall with B. Bean.

Their best avg hitter is .291 Their best HR hitter is 31 hr's No pitcher over 13 wins. Loads of good relievers in the 2.xx era's

What is their secret? Did y'all see Moneyball?

Their batters are all very streaky, and their pitching has been pretty outstanding most of the year.. Pitching is ultimately what's gotten 'em to this point..

Cespedes had troubles staying on the field for a bit there. Josh Reddick was on an all out tear, all up until he took a header into a wall a month an a half ago. He hasn't been right since then.. Reddick should've been an all star, and Cespedes definitely will be at some point.. The team plays nice D and has some great role-players...There's someone different stepping up every night.

BTW wins are a hokey stat when it comes to pitchers. There's far too many factors out of the pitchers control when it comes to wins.. Let's take Kevin Millwood in 2005 as an extreme example. He led the AL with a 2.86 era, but had a record of 9-11.. Also Milone and Parker are the only two SP's who have really pitched all year.. 8 of the 10 pitchers that have started for them(Godfrey and Ross being the exceptions) have ERA's under 3.89
