Default T215 Red Cross

Posted By: James Feagin

My boss was nice enough to give me a good trade today. I scored a T215 Red Cross Type II of Miller Huggins. Even though the card is in PR condition with substantial paper loss, it is still a beauty. Question. Approximately how many examples (roughly) of each card from this elusive series are there? Additionally, some people have considered this a "Louisiana" issue. Despite the NJ factory stamp, has this been proven or is it complete conjecture? Is the thought T213, T214, T216 are Louisiana issues, why not T215?

James

b/c several have been found in LA. The LA finds also include a group of T215's that had four T207 Red Cross backs in the find as well. The T207's also have the NJ factory on the back.

They could have been sold all over the USA under the Red Cross brand. They just appear to have been made in NJ.

I've also heard that they were primarily distributed in the LA area, despite the NJ factory designation. For whatever reason, they are considered a legitimate LA issue.

Default T215 Red Cross

Just from the card design, t215 type 1 is similar to t213 type 1 and t215 type 2 is similar to t213 type 2. The type 2's from both sets have the blue print at the bottom... As for the checklists, the two issues vary widely.

edit to add-- the paper stock is different but printer font is similar.

2nd edit-- to answer how many of each are there??

I believe there were 100 designs originally made and distributed of each t215 series. Some are lost or yet to be discovered. IMHO, each Red Cross player from either series is as rare as a Ty Cobb with Ty Cobb back (+/-) 15. Regards
