Default Gehringer's Rarest Card?

Posted By: Paul Stratton

I know of the mainstream issues which feature Charlie Gehringer(Goudey, Playball, etc.) but was wondering what his "rarest" card may be. I was thinking maybe the George Miller was but could be wrong. Any opinions as to what it might be?

Thanks, Paul

I am not sure but I think there would be a tougher more obscure card than the George C. Miller. Maybe some of the detroit collectors can tell us.

I know this is dredging up an old thread, but why does Gehringer's card have a picture of PeeWee Herman on it?

Joe -- GCM's are very tough, but have you ever even seen a Demaree Die Cut of Gehringer? If someone has a complete one for sale, please e-mail me.

I figured the GCM was not his toughest but I just threw it out there because I don't think I've ever seen the die-cut or the star player candy. Any pics out there?

The Burke photo stamps are not cards but are pretty tough to get. Where would they rank?

Both types of the 1935 George Burke Stamps will be right up there with the rarest or toughest to find.

I have 129 different (most uncataloged) of the regular George Burke Stamps but dont have a Gehringer. I know Leon has a few of the 1935 Tigers George Burk Stamps, but I just checked his pictured stamps and there is no Gehringer (he does have a Cochrane though).

I have to agree with Frank's list. I've also seen some UNC stuff pop up here and there.

It's surprising how many sets Gehringer was excluded from.

If Gehringer appears on the 1931-32 or 1933 Exhibit 4/1's, you certainly have to throw those two cards in the "difficult-to-find" category...
