Default RIP: Nate Thurmond

I never got to see him play, but it has been said he was a great defender.

One of only four to grab 40 rebounds in a single game...which says as much about when he played as it does how he played...that's not meant as a slight, just the way it was.

Wow, sorry to hear this. He's been a Bay Area, SF/Oakland mainstay for a long time. I used to live a couple blocks from Big Nates BBQ, and had always heard he used to spend a lot of time there with customers. Seemed like a good guy. RIP
