Default Help with baseball plate

Sorry for the poor photos, but I just picked up this baseball plate. The seller indicated that they believed it was turn of the century but I’m just not sure. There are no markings on the back that I can tell. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?

Default for sure

Id say its for sure turn of the century but not sure which century. Maybe an antique dealer could shed some light but would probably need an "in person" look to be sure. Nice image tho....

Thank you. Seller was sure it was early 1900's. I got it cheap enough that I figured it would make a nice display piece if nothing else, and who knows, i may have gotten lucky with a real find.

That is a nice looking plate. The picture of the player is similar to the Ruth Called Shot stance.

A little thinner than Ruth, but I see what you’re saying. I can’t wait to get it in hand to see if there’s any markings whatsoever. I’m wondering if it’s maybe a hand-painted one off, since there doesn’t seem to be any manufacturer info.

Nice touch how they have baseballs worked into the design around the rim.

When you have it in-hand, post a few pics on the Memorabilia Side. The provided pics are way too grainy and poorly focused to determine anything. It could be a modern piece and it could be authentic/of the era. A lot will depend upon the type of paint and whether the glaze exhibits aging, crazing, yellowing, etc.

Regardless, you'll get a more informed response once higher resolution pics with better close-ups are posted over there. Best of luck!

I’ll definitely post some pictures on the other side when I have it in hand. I just thought since it was supposed to be turn of the century that it might get more exposure on this side of the fence. I’m really thinking that since there’s no hallmark or company name on the back, but it may be a one off that was handpainted by someone.

I thought that was an especially nice feature of the plate.

Maybe 1990's. You can pick-up the matching golf plate for $7 + shipping...

I think you nailed it, someone must have removed the manufacturers mark. Good detective work.

Well done! I only paid $10 for it, so even it’s a 1990’s piece, I’m good with it. It’ll display nicely.

It's neat looking. From that first picture it looked old to me. But then again, I look old to me too!

The plate arrived today. Here is a photo of the front of it. I do believe in seeing it firsthand as well as the golf examples on eBay that this is probably a modern plate and is not vintage. I still hope to find an example online somewhere with the manufacturers info on the back as this one is completely blank on the rear side.
