Default Is the Goodwin auction over?

I thought it ended at 9 central but every time I check it all the lots show 14 minutes, time goes down a couple of minutes, then jumps back up to 14 minutes. I'm on my phone so I don't know if it's a glitch.

Welcome to auctions, if it goes 15 minutes with no bids on anything, it'll end but not until then

That usually will take till 4-5 AM EST but tonight seems like a slower auction so will probably end earlier

The lot I'm looking at hasn't had a bid since 8:30. I thought it only went to extended if there were bids still being placed?

Nah that's how Legendary and Joe's operates but most of the auction houses (REA,Goodwin, Sterling, LotG, B and L) use the 15 minutes with no bids before close system

That's 15 minutes without a bid on ANY lot in the auction...not just yours

Like someone said earlier, Goodwin auctions have been known to end at 4 EDT or later....

If the auction ended 1.5 hours ago and there weren't any bids placed then it's well past the 15 minute extended period though right?

Yep....the 9PM deadline was just for "preliminary bidding". You needed to have a bid placed before that time to bid on the lot in "extended bidding" which is going on now. Extended bidding won't end until there aren't ANY bids placed on ANY lot in the auction for a full 15 minutes.

So yeah, this auction will run late. There are other auction houses that work it so that items will close individually if there haven't been bids on that specific item for 15 or 30 minutes, but Goodwin's format is a tad bit different...

The buy/sell/trade section. No bids, no extended bidding... just "I'll take it".

B-L is no longer the entire auction. It is now closed Lot by Lot as well (or at least their previous auction was).

I have to read the rules to every auction every time I think about bidding to remind myself how each place is because even if I think I know it may change like B-L did.

Gotta give Goodwin some credit. My invoice is already in the email box. They must use a lot of 5 hour energy and coffee.

That is true. We have tried every different ending and have come to the conclusion that if you make people sh** or get off the pot then they will bid. If not then we had bidders playing the "let's see if we can wait out the other guy until he falls asleep with a measly bid" syndrome. There is NO perfect ending method but we like the each lot ending on it's own, best.

Also, at least one s/w that is employed will not allow individual endings so that is something that has to be taken into account where applicable. Most AH's use SimpleAuction s/w and their s/w can be instructed to end either at once or separately. Hope this helps.
