Default Hey, great piece of trivia!

Posted By: Julie Vognar

..and to think I couldn't find one when we had the thread:

Beginning in 1922 when it started to happen, and lasting through 1989 (when my Baseball Encyclopedia came out), 9 men won the MVP two times in a row. Those nine men make a baseball team (I mean, occupy the nine positions who take the field at one time). Can you name them? Have there been other two-times-in-a-row-winners since (I doubt it)?

Of course, I couldn't name them! I was just browsing through the MVPs one day, and noticed a pair, and then another, and so on--and then looked at them all--and by golly, it was a team!

Of course this goes all the way back through the Chalmers and combined leagues awards.

Mike Schmidt would be sitting in at third base - 1980 and the strike-shortened 1981.

Didn't Koufax win back to back, or was that just Cy Young awards?

Mantle would have to DH since he was a gimp the later half of his career.
