M.F. Walker was the only 19th century black man in the majors--and that includes his brother, who as far as I know never played for the AA Blue Stockings. But White seems to have beaten him to it, even though he only played one game.

Thanks! Still think Walker's brother didn't make it to the majors, though!

I dont know why you wouldnt consider the American Association a major league,a lot of great stars played in the league during its 8 year existance?

Wellday Walker did in fact play for Toledo,5 games,all as an outfielder and he hit .222

Moses beat him to the majors by 2 1/2 months

I just didn't know that Wellday played for them (even 5 games--why'd he quit? Or was he demoted?). Moses played the whole year, until the BSs folded.
