Default An intresting Clemente check signed in 1977!?!

Perhaps, I am confused but I thought that Roberto Clemente died in 1972? I am just curious how he could of signed a check in 1977? Please tell me I am wrong?

I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing the second number is actually a 2 (or maybe even a 1). At first glance, while it may look like a seven, it doesn't really match the first 7 (notice the slight differences at the bottom and top).

That is what makes it so funny? Its impossible to sign your name on a check before you are born? That is in no way a 5 or a 6. LOL! The worst part about it is its in a PSA holder!

I think he is saying the LAST number, the one after the 7. Meaning it was signed in '71 or '72.

looking at it more closely, I'd bet even money that's a 2 there at the end. Little weird looking but I'd feel pretty safe saying it was signed in 72

Edward --

Yes, I'm saying it looks like 1972 or possibly 1971 -- I think it's pretty clear that it's a real Clemente check, signed by Roberto.

Ask for a scan of the back. Wouldn't it show a cancellation date?

Clemente died december 31 1972. So it has to be a 1 or 2.
