Default Clemente Signature Opinions

Hi everyone,

I have the opportunity to purchase a 1970 Roberto Clemente Night autographed poster for a great price. However, I do not have much experience with his signature and wanted to get opinions on its authenticity. Any feedback helps!

Thanks!

In my limited knowledge of Clemente's autograph and my own knowledge on this particular piece I know that this poster is a commonly forged item..I would be very wary of purchasing this particular piece autographed until I had a greater familiarity with his signature or purchased it from a trusted source.

First, welcome to the board.
Second, let me congratulate you on asking for help prior to buying it. So often, we get the questions after the fact and then the buyer has to go through the hassle of trying to return it.
Third, while I don't claim to be an expert on Clemente, I don't really care for this autograph.

I've been trying to compare it to others that have been authenticated by either PSA or JSA. The one I'm looking at looks fairly similar IMO. What do you guys think?

(The one I'm looking at buying is second from the left)

Upload a larger screenshot photo. It's too small to see.

Hello Mr. Dorsey (that was the guy who was Clemente's ghost signer).
I believe he signed this piece and many more.

So were the other three that I compared it to (and which passed PSA) also Phil Dorsey signatures?

What I see from this is 2 different signers. Look at the differences in the letters and I think you will see why no one so far has liked this signature. If you really study the differences you may see what everyone does not like. Its your money do what you want with it but Richard Simon is one of the most respected in the hobby.

Find a yeam-signed ball and compare. Clemente's signature is not generally 'flat' like these.

You have been given free advice. Richard told you what he thought. It is up to you and no one else.
I hope you buy it.
