Default a little website help please - I need one

Posted By: Bryan Long

Can someone please come forward to offer a guy some little help building a website? I have had others in the past - Geocities, etc. but I would like to have one that really pops in a way. I know that there are a few people that do this on the board and I'll be honest to say I don't want to drop a bunch of money into this, but it is time to finally create a site once and for all. I know there are hosting fees and domain name fees and finally the fee that someone will charge just to build and help me keep the darn thing up. I know enough to be dangerous, but not enough to know what I need to do

A couple of you I have talked to in the past, and please forgive me as I no longer have the e-mail addresses of those people.

Thanks all,
Bryan

If you have an email account with someone like earthlink (as I do), you can get the email, web site space and domain name all though them at once. In fact, many of these companies give you a certain amount of web space for free as part of using their email.

You then just have to learn how to make web pages and upload them to your site. PageMill is good software for beginners that allows you to make nice looking and comprehensive web pages. I use PageMill to design my site.

In fact, if you wish to use PageMill, you can design and practice and learn about making your own web pages on your computer, before you ever get web space and a domain name. I regularly have finished or semi-finished pages on my computer for loading onto the web at a later date. If you do use PageMill make sure to get both the software (on CD) and the instruction book. You can buy the CD alone, but a beginner will need the book also.

Hey Bryan,

I think I was one of the individuals you spoke with previously about a web design. If you still have questions, feel free to give me hollar sometime. I've designed and built a few sites for board members and may be able to help you out as well.

Edited to add an image of a simple design for a site that I've recently developed for the d311 set. I have a similar one for e107s but haven't gotten around to making either of them "live" yet.

Regards,
Brian

How About for Macs?

When I went from the pc to the Mac, I lost the ability to do most edits on my Homestead-based web pages.....so now I have to CONVERT, then find a new site and how to manage the new site.

Thoughts? (Please send me an email if you can help) ;(

I'm sorry we couldn't reach a price agreement years ago, Bryan. I'm still around if you're interested. trae@thinkableinc.com
