Default T204 Reprints--roughed up?

Posted By: mark

I am 99.9% sure this is a reprint card roughed up, he also has another that looks the same. Any thoughts? He doees point out that they may or may not be real.

It might be real, but I would expect more wear on the corners, with some loss of gold.

the front is smooth, it should be raised a bit with the embossed gold. Reprint are smooth.

One thing about the Ramlys is that all that fancy gold design is embossed
(pushed out on front, pushed in on back), and you can often see the embossing
even in a scan.

Looks that way. The authentic cards are embossed so you should be able to see the embossed design in the glare and maybe on the back as well. Also the photo on authentic cards is crisper.

Larry Fritsch sells reprint T204 sets, and this is one of them.

I think it's a reprint. Scan of reprint below shows the text on the back, and the auction card has a scuff area the exact size and location of the reprint text (from the R in Ramly at the top diagonally down to the Mass at the bottom).

Reprint.

Joann

Seller appears honest. Has revised his listing. I think "counterfeit card" might have given him/her time before bidding. JMO

The first thing I always do if I want to see what a reprint looks like is google "T204 Reprint" and many times a Fritsch page comes up with photos.

Good digging Joann.

Steve, A very rare instance where 'shoot first, ask questions later' was misapplied by that trigger happy bidder.
