I had taken some time away from the hobby recently, but jumped right back in as I started to finally pick up some Yankees pinbacks. It started with a Reggie Jackson & then I added more quickly. Now I'm on the hunt for more and have zeroed in on a couple that I hope to add to the growing collection.

Giants
Hi All,
I picked up this lot for just under the 1000 starting price. I bought it mainly for this Pierce but needed a few others as well. I was honestly amazed at the condition of the tougher ones in the group. I've been moving the dupes through Ebay as well as a few privately. On pace for getting back most of the purchase price. I am elated to add this very rare pin to my Cubs collection. It is definitely from the 1906 to 1908 range. Has some damage to the side but you can’t be picky on one this old.

I'm not sure what I have. Not sure these are authentic. Saw these at a flea market, bought 'em all. $2/pin. Marked 1969 mlbpa, MFG in USA. Some of the teams had disbanded by this year. Jackie Robinson is with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Eddie Matthews is with the Milwaukee Braves. Others include Duke Snider, Sandy Koufax, Al Kaline, Roy Campanella, Satchel Paige, Ron Santo, Whitey Ford, Hank Aaron, Maury Wills, Robin Roberts, Willie McCovey, Juan Marichal, Orlando Cepeda and some others.

I ventured outside of my comfort zone, and picked up this early Pinback. It's dated 1898, and features a very early depiction of an African American Player.

Not exactly Mayseum quality, but I was tickled to pick up this oddball Bob Brenly from 1979. It fits in well with my SF Giants minor league pins. I have a soft spot for BB for a number of reasons...
He lived down the hall in my freshman dorm at Ohio University. Somehow, I ended up in the "jock dorm." He suffered through the Giants' 100 loss season of 1985 and later contributed to Roger Craig's "Humm Baby" teams. Finally, he had a day to remember in 1986 (see article).

Great thread. I've gotten hooked on pinbacks (see what I did there) after picking up my first 2 recently.
I'm waiting on a few Sweet Caporal pins to be delivered too. I'm in learning mode at the moment. I'll only dabble here and there while I build up some knowledge about the market. Other than net54 and Paul Muchinsy's book are there pinback websites that you guys recommend?

After thinking about for a few years, I finally bought one of those shadow display frames off eBay and stuffed it full of pins. Once I got going, it was hard to stop — the task took about four hours. I could only display about half my pins, so I had to make some tough choices. It came out looking better than I expected.

Hey all!
Had a guy I’ve purchased cards from (online never met in person, but all the cards he had sent have been great), showed me this pin. He said someone had told him it seems to be a cut out portion of a goudey Ruth and stuck in a homemade pin. Do you all have an opinion on if this looks like it could have been a legit card? To me, the “dots” make it look like fabric. I have no idea if a cut up Goudey has any value but, again to me, that pin’s value would be very minimal.

Trying to put some new blood back in the pin section! Lets post up some nice ones. Picked up the pin on the left to compliment my one on the right. I believe it was issued for the 1907 or 1908 world series..... Hughie Jennings was the manager.... Very hard to find and was glad to get it...

Some of us crazies who collect pins always looking for the the variations in the crossed bats series. Picked up the center one as I hadnt seen this on in the orange New York version. Much harder to come by... You always see the common blue and white or the San Fran orange version. 1 3/4 size...
