Default Blacksox collectors - Risberg opinion

Saw this pop up on Ebay. PSA certified with a full name autograph on a 3x5.
Ok, so unless I'm mixing up my players, I thought I read that almost the entire amount of Risberg autographs came from a collector that befriended Risberg in the hospital. The collector left 100 blank 3x5's and Risberg ended up signing them...all, to my knowledge in blue ballpoint pen. This auto up for sale is on a 3x5 but looks like it was signed with a felt tip (flair?) pen. I'm sure it was possible for him to use one, but I'm thinking not likely.
Also, all the 3x5's I've seen of him were signed Chas, not Charles.
Any thoughts guys?

Not an avid collector, so take it anything I say with a grain of salt.

1) It is certified, so it's got that going for it.
2) The felt tip pen became popular in the 1960's and Risberg died in 1975, so that was plenty of time for him to have signed. These two factors are very much in the autograph's favor.

If doesn't nail the exemplars I found, however. You have to decide how much that bothers you.

Thanks Todd. Yeah, I agree with what you said, and I don't know if it's the felt pen that makes the auto look "different", but since it's the only example I know of using felt (for him) and the fact that the auto looks a little off, I would have to pass on it. By the way, I was not planning on bidding on it, but wanted peoples opinions to see if I was way off base or on target for future dealings. Eventually I'll pick up an pen version on 3x5, but they don't pop up too often.

As most people know there aren't a lot of Risberg autographs in the market but the ones I have seen are older signatures and all in ink. Basically the ones all the collectors know about and a handful of others. Forgetting the PSA cert I would wait until I found an autograph in ink. Plus this has just a few subtle differences between what I know of his signature and this one; just enough to make me back away from this one.

Default Risberg

I will say that I have seen index cards signed both Chas and Charles. If it were some no name authentication company, I could see being weary but PSA is usually pretty diligent.

This is one that i have in my collection (signed Chas but in ink).

Dave, PSA isn't perfect, not by a long shot. Yours looks like a good one, but that other one, weeeeeeeeeell. Anyway, did you say you were selling your blacksox stuff, and if so, how are you doing it? EBAY, here, auction?

Hi Mike,

I'll try Net54 first. Ebay will be for anything not sold on this forum.
