It's a good possibility. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw them come up for auction.

I picked up my fourth T206 HOFer this month. It's just the way I like them, great looking front for the grade and a presentable back with imperfections that I am willing to overlook.

Best,

Eric

Default Not Buck

Hi Patrick,

This is not Buck Barker's handwriting. Mr. MaCrae has informed me before about the collector responsible for these notations, but I unfortunately do not remember. He would probably, like all things Zeenut and PCL related, have this information at the tip of his tongue.

Brian

I have seen this handwriting on a bunch of PCL cards.

Is this Buck Barkers notations?

Thanks! I'm having a lot more fun than I have with the modern stuff, though there's still a soft spot in my heart for rare 90s cards.

Since my dad's retirement, he's opened up a booth at an antiques mall and is getting really interested in antiques and collectibles. I work for COMC.com and am always talking about cards, so I got him looking at prewar cards and now he's hooked on T206. He's bought a handful of them and I thought I'd grab the Tinker so we could start collecting together.

I have a feeling I'm hooked, too.

Default Couple of Cubs Pickup

Excited to pick up a nice Jimmy Archer Fatima Cigarettes T222 card via a trade with a great board member.

Also added another T206 of Tom Needham with my first Old Mill back via Sterling Auctions.

Guess today is Chicago Cubs catcher day!

Hey Patrick,

Do you have a site where you share your great collection that displays the history of the catcher?

Thanks!

Chris, might I inquire what scanner you're using? Your cards always look beautiful. Also, how are you getting the black matting to look so clean? Thank you.

Nah, you bid me up plenty.

I'm guessing you've received yours (as has Pete); I posted my E105 winnings after payment and receiving a shipping notice on eBay, but the USPS entry hasn't been updated since Tuesday. I opened a case with USPS and sent a message to just_collect.

Brad-that first Cobb postcard might be my favorite pickup in this entire thread. As much as I love the Monster, I'm really getting into the postcards, too. Kudos on a beautiful addition to your collection.

Dan, that Mack is beautiful. Could you please tell me what set that is from? I can't judge the scale of the picture. Is that considered a cabinet card, or is it smaller?

Leon-I never get tired of looking at the Turkey Reds. Such a nice Cobb T3 you have there.

Ian-congrats on the Willie!!!!!!!!! I know you're on cloud nine right now.

Bill, it is a cabinet photo by Gray of Boston who took a lot of the photos in the N172 Old Judge set...in fact this image does appear in the N172 set. I have been scouring the internet trying to find another one, but can't seem to locate any.

Daryl,

Did your cards ever arrive?

Dan B., Great Gray cabinet of Mack. I'm going to start a thread about the Gray studio cabinets to get some more information on them.

Looking forward to it...there really is almost nothing on the net about the Gray cabinets...and I've been pilfering my basement the last three days in search of my Old Judge book to see if there is any info about them in there. Why did I pack that thing away???

Thank you, Dan. That helps to connect some of the dots.

I think I mentioned on another thread that I've become a cycleback.com devotee. I bought David's book on authenticating pre-1930s baseball cards, and now I'm delving into his written work on early photographs. I find it adds a whole other level of enjoyment to my hobby. I feel strongly, too, that the knowledge I gain will enable me to foray into the "real photo" pre-1900 cards, as well as postcards and photographs.

Stunning OJs, the photo quality of your "small collection" is off the charts.

Dan B., love the Mack Studio Proof cabinet.

Not yet. According to just_collect and the USPS, it could take up to two weeks because it was sent registered mail. It makes sense, but the USPS tracking site should indicate that.
