Slow way down and focus the collection. Hopefully cross off another from the top ten list. Spend more time on researching the set.

Keep chippin' away at my '38 Goudey Heads-up set. I'm also hoping to see more people put quarters and other change next to their pics like Leon.

Default 2013 Goals

My goals for 2013 are:

To get to 100 T206s, including one new rare back, 3 HOFs, and 2 Old Mill SLs and to continue to upgrade my existing PSA 3s to PSA 4.

To add 10 more 33 Goudeys in PSA 6

To continue to sell off some of my modern cards to increase budget for more vintage.

To better organize my collection via Excel documenting and physical storage.

1) Get my final Ruth to have all 4 1933 Goudey Ruth cards, need the red background, affordable PSA-1 type card

2) Continue to try to find old pre-war Yankees that i need that are approx $60 or less.

3) Continue working on autographed Yankees cards (cuts, on-card, and stickers on cards), preferably of players from 1950's and older.

4) Get cracking on the new subset of my collection, cards of pitchers who Mickey Mantle hit home runs off of.

5) Find more cards of Jewish athletes in all sports.

My goal is the same as it was for 2012, to stay focused! I have a few key singles that I'm looking for, and I'd like to reach 50% on my Rogers Peet set.

1- Continue picking up T206 cards.

2- Admit to myself that I will probably never complete the set...and be OK with this.

3- Embrace my inner Type Collector and pick up things that appeal to me...buy what I like, like what I buy.

4- Have fun and enjoy this hobby.

5- Continue to interact with all of the great people here on this board.

6- Make it to as many shows as possible...and wear my Net54 shirt to each and every one of them (thanks, Leon...you rock!)

Hoping all of you have a wonderful holiday season and a peaceful, prosperous, happy new year.

Best Regards,

Eric

Pretty much the same as last year, acquire more cards that fit my collection, and to sell off others I don't necessarily need to help fund those purchases so I don't have to spend more out of pocket.

Default 2013 Goals

For my T206 SGC 40 set, I hope to get to 70% and add at least one Cobb.

I'd like to get to 50 different EPDG.

And hitting the 50% mark in E91-A would be great too!

To find the last 2 1960s-70s Non Topps Indians I need (1960 Shopsy Frankfurters- Jack Kubiszyn and 1974 Falstaff Beer Premium- Jim Clark)

To get at least one from my Worch want list

T207 Anon 3 Recruit Class for George, Easterly or Higgins

Other than that, maybe another Hage Dairy and to keep searching for a T207 Napoleon backed Cleveland Nap

I've never thought of a "collecting goal" before... But this should be fun. I'd like to pick up at least 50 new OJs and 50 new LA Zeenuts by 2014.

Armed with a very modest budget and a renewed discipline to stay on task:

1. Period Cy Young < $200
2. Period Lou Gehrig < $200
3. 10 hits to my player collections
4. Add 15 34-36 Diamond Stars
5. Take more trips to my existing binders and enjoy what I have.

Since I've only been on the forum for a few months its great to see members looking back at the goals they set last year and to see that many have surpassed them! I'll be interested to see what I thought this time next year, though I'm not promising myself anything because I know better..

1. To get to 40 T206 (with at least 1-2 new HOF)
2. To get to 40 T205
3. To start a 1936 R314 Set
4. To scan a good portion of it

Another year of enjoying the hobby and this board would be great. Adding another good chunk to my T206 quest would be greater. Another 12 credit card statements with the need for a divorce lawyer would be greatest.

Now this will hurt the very nature of a collector's soul...but mine is to get a little better organized.

My collection will make the big move from the basement floor to the top floor this fall....scary. Not as scary as #1 son going off to college.

Default 2013 goals

At my age #1 2013 goal is 2014, after that work on finishing 2 SGC sets to go with PSA T204 Ramly and PSA E103 Williams sets. Need 3 Williams and 26 Ramlys - maybe try to get about have of what I need in these sets. Finished 1911 SGC Zeenut set this year as well as 1933 SGC Zeenut sepia set. Still need about 45 1912 Zeenuts, will try to get a dozen or so this year. Then there are still those pesty E92's. Dockmans done, but need 6 Candy, 11 Cocoa, and by the book 22 Nadja, however I don't think there are 62 nadja cards, but only 56 to maybe 60.

Just one for me: decide whether completing the E90-1 set is a wise financial decision with my budget. If so, I'll add 1 HOF and 10 commons. If not, make serious inroads on my '51 Bowman and '53 Topps: 3 HOFs and 30 commons each.

I'd like to continue to prune back my collection like I have been doing in 2012, and continue to focus on my Ruth collection. I'd like to finish my Schutter Johnson set (I only need Si Johnson), and make some progress in these random sets I'm working on (W519-1/W590/Baguer). Someday, I'd like to pick up a CJ Cobb, T206 Magie, and/or E103 Wagner, but not sure it will be 2013 since I think this will be more of a step back year.

For 2013 my goals are:

1) Get the final 3, 33 WWG English-only backs (27, 73, 78)to complete that set.

2) Get 2 or 3 of the final 9 cards for my basic 205 set.

3) Get 2 or 3 of the final 9 cards for the R312 set.

4) Pick up another Geo. C. Miller to reach halfway on that set and another U.S. Caramel to reach halfway on that set.

5) Pick up 1 of the final 3 cards for the Sport Kings set.

Continue to look for more unique items and pass on cards I can pick up any time I have the money to do so. I've been trying not to buy Goudey Ruths, T206 Cobbs, or any cards like that that are readily available any time I feel like writing a check. I want to get more obscure.

Since I am all over the spectrum, so are my goals, and I'm sure a lot will get thrown in along the way:

#1 - T227 Baker
#1a - More signed tobacco. Have a couple, want more.
#2 - 1964 Opening Day at Shea Ticket Stub
#3 - T205 Cobb/Johnson/Young
#4 - T206 Cobb(s)
#5 - The 1894 Orioles Match Case that seems to be in every Robert Edwards Auction
#6 - My first CJ - I'd like a Jennings or a Clarke
#7 - More T3 HOFERS, especially a Clarke

Happy new year all.

Keep chipping away at America's Weirdest Want List. I'm at the point with some aspects of my collection where a half dozen cards a year is a great year.

My one and only goal is to get 10 more CRacker Jacks to finish my set. I would like to have the 7 upgrades by then as well, but I really would like to be finished around the National if possible. Thats it, 10 cards. If I could score a 1907 Tigers FP Burke PC I would be pleased as well.

To hit 100 t206s I would also like to add like 5 HOF'ers, a few Southern Leaguers, and become 2/3 done with my back run!

Default 2013 Goals

2012 was my first year collecting pre-war. I have way too many interests for my wallet, but what else is new. Since I can't seem to give anything up at this point, I will focus on a little more of everything.

1. Three cards to complete the 1935 Goudey (short set of 36).
2. Pick up 10 t201 in grades SGC 80 or higher toward set completion.
3. Get the monster number over 300 (255 at present).
4. T206 Elberfield, graded. Outbid four times this year!
5. Add two of the four HOFer Cobb, Matty, Johnson, Young toward t206 HOF master set.
6. Avoid starting another set, wish me luck on this one, esp. e90-1, e91c, e95...

Default 2013 goals

My 2013 goals will be:

> trim the fat (xtra cards that don't fit my collection)

> trim the fat (from the belly)

> take a short "holiday" from collecting to enjoy the birth of my first child in April (assuming all goes as projected)

> buy only one or two *significant* cards missing from my HOF "rookie" collection and avoid falling into the trap of buying cards that only marginally fit my collection

> avoid the temptation to buy cards that I already own because the price looks "too good" and because I assume I will somehow be able to resell for more

> remind myself daily that I am NOT a card dealer, I am a card COLLECTOR!

Default 2013 Goals

Having bought like a drunken sailor in 2012, I expect that additions to my catcher collection will drop off quite a bit this coming year.

I only need a few cards from the PCL:

1912 Ralph Kreitz HRK...1912 Claude Berry Zeenut.

I would like to add some more C46 Imperial Tobacco catchers.

Looking for a nice 1915 Nunamaker Cracker Jack as well.

Would someday like to add a Carl Horner Cabinet of one of my 7 major league catchers.

Lastly, a Johnny Kling Plow Boy Tobacco Cabinet would round out my type card collection nicely.

I will be happy adding some C46 catchers, and perhaps more colored Chief Meyers S74 silks this coming year.

My goal of 2013 is to finish (minus 1) my T205 (low grade) set that I have been working on since 2007. Want to have this done before I get transferred for the last time before retirement. I probably could have finished a while ago, but got side tracked several times due to other cards that I wanted. I'm down to the final 26 (all commons except "no stats") cards and I should be able to complete by the end of the year.

Happy holidays,

Frank

Best goal of anyone here, something I should have put in my goals too.

Default 2013 goals

1) pick up another 3 or 4 E93's for my set - currently need 6 more to complete

2) pick up 3 or 4 more w554's for my set including another with a back stamp

3) Make a decision on what sets to pursue next - currently leaning toward both a D304 & R311 leather
