Jeff--I don't really collect much post-1900 but I do have one Cobb that I think you need, an Everybodys Cobb (M101-4 type card). I'm not ready to part with it now, but if and when I am I will contact you.

Barry, thanks, I've got those. And I laughed about "stockpiling" -- only in this sick hobby do people regularly do such a thing. (And I probably would too with those cards if they weren't so expensive!)

People do buy dupes for trade purposes. But of course it's a risk because trades at high levels are often hard to do.

Yeah, I passed on it because I've been saving up for this Butter Cream Ruth in an "Aut" holder. I think it will go for about 10K.

Leon, those are some fine cards -- and a very handsome rooster, I must add. I understand that most of your collection has previously passed through Scott Elkins' hands, however (including, unfortunately, the rooster). I love this card, truly one of my favorites. Unless I'm forced to spread the wealth around (or the Steinbrenners take it out of my pocket on the way into their ballpark) I'll probably keep it for some time, sorry.

C) Rob, I will generously pay $375 for all PSA 8s -- I don't know how much more generous I can get.

D) Joe, you taunt me so....I'm considerng tracking down the world famous Super Taddy underprint and holding it hostage for that Wolverine Cobb....you'll be sorry then.

Richard, that one's really tough to see, much worse than Leon's and even Joe's. If you had the Boston Garter (of which I was the underbidder) I'd probaby throw myself out the window.

Edited to add: this is what I both hate and love about collecting: you just cannot get them all....damn.

I remember that Hunt's auction with the garter Cobb. It was in my backyard and I was thinking about making the 1 hour drive to attend the Fanfest in SF. Thanks goodness I didn't because I would have been tempted and could possibly still have been eating top ramen to this day.

We buy Ramen by the case. We love it. I started eating it 30 yrs ago when in Okinawa in the USMC.....I think the shelf life on them is about 50 yrs....though I am not still eating the ones from '79.

Jim, true, you got me there. The next thing you'll see me do is start a thread on the main board extolling the virtues of my favorite new cards..how I've waited my entire life for these cards...and then the next day put them on BST or ebay for double the price. And then repeat the same conduct over and over and over again. Oh and then start three identical threads in various parts of the BST about the card sales -- that too.
