Default Two men, from the same city, in the same year ...

Posted By: identify7

It goes like this:

Q: Two men, from the same city, in the same year, on the same team, in the same game, in the same inning, each got three hits. Who were they?

A: Fred Pfeffer + Ned Williamson, Chicago, 7th inning, Sept. 6, 1883

************************************************** ************************
Here, you try it:

Q: Two men, from the same city, in the same year each won the Triple Crown. Who were they?

A: ?

************************************************** *************************
Or:

Q: Two men, from the same city, in the same year, fielding the same position, each won their third MVP award. Who were they?

A: ?

************************************************** *************************
Go ahead, try to answer them yourself, or add a "Two men ...". Or both.

Jimmie Foxx and Chuck Klein, Philadelphia, 1933. I'm not sure of the other yet.

O.K. we're even. I was thinking Campy but Yogi never came to mind. What third baseman started two around the horn triple plays in the same game?

Three men, who all shared the same uniform number, won the MVP award (NL, AL, NFL)in the same year. Name the uniform number and the year. And the men.

Have no idea at all, so I'll say #7 in 1956. Am I remotely close?

That was a tough one. It would have taken me hours to come up with it, if at all. What three N.Y. Met players have hit four home runs in one game (since 1962) although none did it with the Mets?

What is the largest city in the United States (by population) with NO professional sports team (either major or minor league). Blah---sorry, didn't mean to ruin the content of the thread.

James

Not a clue Steve...

Here's an easy one:

Name the only player to be active when Babe Ruth retired and when Hank Aaron first broke in.

Three men, in the same year (1977), all with the SAME initials, all won the "Rookie of the Year" awards in each of the three major sports.

They were?

Is the Babe Ruth/Hank Aaron answer.

And here is a pre-war question for the crowd

In 1925, which Hall of Fame pitcher hit into 2 double plays and a triple play in the same game?

Rich

What 20th century pitcher recorded more Wins than Walks allowed for two consecutive seasons?

And

What two other 20th century pitchers accomplished this feat for single seasons?

(double digit wins only)

Yes, Mathewson did it in 1913 + 1914, I believe. Saberhagen in the '90s. But did Maddux do it? I had Slim Sallee in 1919.
