Default Let's see your cards of "Stan the Man"

I realize that all of Stan Musial's cards are post-war (even if he did play in the big leagues before Pearl Harbor), but yesterday's Medal of Freedom ceremony reminded me of what a treasure he is to our favorite game. Someday soon Stan will be gone, so let's raise a glass to "Stan the Man" while he's still around! Let's see your cards and memorabilia ...

Default Stan Musial

A well deserved award for Stan "The Man" Musial.

An exceptional BB player, a tremendous person, and a great Pennsylvanian.

1943ish... with an image of him before he was wearing #6.

My scanner bed wouldn't accommodate the entire Baseball Magazine premium.

Well some love for those Cardinal postcards, too!!! Almost had one, once. Bid it in on eBay, only for the dealer, who did and still does seem reputable, to tell me after a day went by that the postcard had already been sold.

Come on, guys, there's more Musial stuff...

My story with the "Man", when I was about 19/20 years old my dad had him appear at a local card show and I sat at the table with him. I helped get the items ready and move the crowd along. Stan took a lunch break and I went with to show him where everything was. My dad gave me money to get him something and he refused, he then bought my lunch also. Just me and Stan having hot dogs away from all the crowd. I didn't know back then how great it really was (although I did think it was pretty cool). What a guy!

This is a clipping from Sports Illustrated that I had Stan The Man sign at a card show many moons ago. I especially like the caption at the bottom!

Phil, great Rochester team photo. I'd not seen one of those. Tell us more about it.

M114 of 1946 team. Mr. Musial, bottom row, third from left. 3 HOFers on there. Old Mike Gonzalez is on the bottom row 5th from the right with his hat pushed back. And Doc Weaver (the tall, white headed fellow, near the middle of the back row), who's mentioned in When It Was a Game... he was the trainer for the Gashouse Gang, I think it's Elden Aucker's old voice that mentions him.

1949 Musial card with vintage signature

1970's LA Old Timers full page card.

A few Sport magazine images

Yes, Mantle must've been drunk when he signed it without me being able to open it to the right page first.

Thanks, Frank. The Rochester team photo was a ballpark hand-out/sale item. Over the years, the Rochester Red Wings seem to be the #1 minor league team when it came to these types of "premiums" being produced.
