Default Open for Bidding - Love of the Game Fall, 2016 Premier Auction

Hi Everyone:

Just a quick note to let you all know that the Fall, 2016 LOTG Premier Auction is now open for bidding.

I'm particularly proud of this auction and think that in a lot of ways, it's the best LOTG sale yet. There are some pretty incredible pieces in this one, including:

• A T206 Near Set with 133 graded
• A newly-discovered 1933 Goudey Lajoie, graded PSA VG+ 3.5
• A beautiful original painting by Graig Kreindler of Christy Mathewson
• Speaking of Matty, we have his WWI military garment bag, and a group of documents relating to both his assignment and his discharge
• A beautiful 1938 Goudey Joe DiMaggio, graded SGC 88
• Some spectacular N172s, including a fantastic Cap Anson and an equally fantastic "Big Ed" Delahanty
• 200 lots of memorabilia, including tons of great vintage Yankees material, important tickets, and beautiful display items
• Nearly 500 lots of prewar baseball cards, postcards, and 19th Century
• Tough type cards including G&B Gum, Gypsy Queens, tough pinbacks and cabinets
• A huge, fresh-to-the-hobby original-owner collection of 1914 and 1915 Cracker Jacks including many of the keys
• Lots and lots more

The auction closes on Saturday, November 19. Catalogs mail tomorrow, but the auction is open for bidding now.

I hope you all enjoy this one, there's a ton of special material in it!

Good luck,
-Al

Amazing write ups as usual. Kept me up for hours last night. Love to read a catalog and learn something I didn't know and not just see over and over stuff like "Great investment potential" and "Should have graded higher".

Great looking auction, Al - looking forward to the closing day!

On the boxing side, there are no descriptions on any of the lots as of yet. Will this be coming shortly?

Thanks,
Scott

Hi folks:

Same deal with the boxing auction as the baseball - the intent was to get it up once the descriptions were done this weekend. Auction went live last night because it was on autopilot, and a few folks placed bids before I could shut it down! Descriptions will be up today. I'll post something on the boxing side once that's done.

I was bidding around 2AM last night and I noticed the site went down for about ten minutes. Did all the bids keep that were done before hand? Some lots had more that 5 bids placed on it which at first I thought the auction had been open for some time.

All my bids placed late last night are still there today. And some of those were placed before the interruption you reference.

Cheers,
Blair

"And of course this lot has not been authenticated by any third-party authenticator, because A) Nobody can forge the signature of the great Don Mossi, and B) Nobody is qualified to pass judgement on him. He is Don Mossi."

Love the write up, very Chuck Norris-esque.......

I finally got a chance to take a full lap thru the auction. What an amazing variety of great items! especially the CJ's. Maybe you guys could lay off the 1914 Wildfire Schulte for me?
