Default Any photo buffs?

I like to collect photos in various categories, sports of course and others.
But my real passion is taking photos. I use a Nikon D70, it is a few years old but I love that camera. I have done a little digi-scoping too. I shoot mostly nature pics, traveling pics and have shot some pictures at Shea Stadium and Citi Field. The baseball pic here is from Mike Piazza's last Mets game.
Here are a couple of my pics, if anyone else shoots lets see your stuff.

Thirty years ago, when I was stationed in Japan, I bought a Nikon camera and took a lot of pictures. I might have a few left and will post a few if I do. Those are some neat pictures Richard. A few are a little blurry but the content is great.

I take black and white photos that appeal to me. Really ugly trees are my main subject right now, especially in winter with no leaves. I have a few that are entitled arthritis in nature. All are with a digital, never owned a "real" camera, but would someday like to learn the techniques of a conventional camera.

1) Three Sand Cranes stopped to eat lunch on my side yard - 2) one of them walked up to get his/her picture taken 3) This eager collector is using his want list as he sorts through some Old Judges at the 2003 NSCC.

I mostly snap photos of my daughter, but occasionally run across other cool stuff. Macro photography is my favorite...

Most of my photography is of food that I grill and barbecue for competition and just for my own consumption pleasure. Mostly do this to keep track of what I've cooked, and also to improve the apperance of what I cook and serve or submit for judging. I often find things to improve in appearance in the photos that I never see in person particularly when having to submit an entry on time. The photos allow me look at at critically later on and correct things that I do the next time.

One friend of mine once asked: "Why are you always showing us pictures of your food but never any of your kids?"

My response: "If my kids looked this good I'd show you pictures of them too!"

Some first place ribs

Some brisket that looked a lot better than it placed

Grilled and then battered and deep fried burger!

Cedar planked lemon salmon and twice baked red potatoes

Moink balls (bacon wrapped meatballs smoked with some rub and sauced)

A plate of BBQ'ed chicken thighs

Some tomatoes on the grill with mozarella

Grilled hot dog egg rolls with a honey dijon glaze

OK, so nothing "cooked' here. Just your basic salad with a strawberry vinaigrette

Very nice- great thread & great photo's everyone.

I've thought about taking some photography classes, it would be fun to learn about the camera angles & techniques, the equiptment, lenses, etc...

Sincerely, Clayton

Al,

If you're ever down Long Island way on a weekend that we're competing, feel free to stop by and I'll hook you up with some grub and beverage.

My brother maintains our facebook thingy, and usually posts when/where we'll be competing: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Grim-R...28055447259946

Probably one of the best locations we'll be doing this year is in Manorville on Aug 4/5. http://www.bbqbattleli.com/

Great topic Richard. I do a lot of personal traveling and about 2 years ago, I decided to start trying to take better photos in some of the unique places I've visited.

Right now shooting with a Nikon D5000 with either Nikkor 18-200 or a Tokina 12-24.

Here are some recent photos. With the boards help, the Tiger's Nest photo took top 5 in an international competition hosted by Kumuka in October.

Nice stuff John, I like lighthouses and took a trip to Maine last year and took a lighthouse tour. I have to post some of those pics.
Went to Central Park yesterday, my backyard and these are the result a swallow, a cormorant, a red wing blackbird and a butterfly but I don't know the type:

I'm not a photographer but volunteer at a Seattle non-profit art gallery and deal with numerous art photographers. One thing I've learned from casual conversation is, that while I don't take photographs, I know more about the photographer's physical photographs than they do-- such as how resistant they are to fading, what they are etc. The current director is a painter, but the previous two were photographers.

Jon, as usual, incredible images!

I'm one of those incredibly fortunate people that make a living doing something they love. Usually I shoot ads of perfume bottles and models wearing jeans and kids holding action figures, but a few weeks a year I get to get out and shoot things that don't have a logo stuck on them. Here is a few from last week in Honduras.

Just got back from 5 days in Kenya, so figured I'd post some new photos. These were taken with a combination of a D5000 and a D600.

Default Resurrect

Hey guys, I thought of this thread when I recently transferred some cell phone pics over to my iPAD.
This one is Mt Tahoma, more commonly known as Mt Rainier.
At 14,410 ft, it's pushing three-mile high.
It was 90 degrees today but the glaciers didn't seem to mind.
Even my ordinary cell phone makes thus monster come alive!

Default Adams

And this one was taken two weeks ago, it is Tahklach Lake, sitting in front of majestic Mt Adams in south central Washington.
At 12.7k, it's a very large volcano but goes relatively anonymous since there are few places to get this close and even getting here was a rough drive for my SUV
Again, just a cell phone camera, but it came out nicely...

Great images everyone! Jon, we're going to have to meet up next time I"m in NYC to compare notes, we seem to be crossing off similar bucket lists

Here's a few from last winter in SE Asia. We started in Bangkok, took the train to Cambodia, overland to Phnom Pehn, then down the Mekong to the delta, and up the entire coast to Hanoi.

my response: "if my kids looked this good i'd show you pictures of them too!" :d

some first place ribs

some brisket that looked a lot better than it placed

grilled and then battered and deep fried burger!

cedar planked lemon salmon and twice baked red potatoes

moink balls (bacon wrapped meatballs smoked with some rub and sauced)

a plate of bbq'ed chicken thighs

some tomatoes on the grill with mozarella

grilled hot dog egg rolls with a honey dijon glaze

ok, so nothing "cooked' here. Just your basic salad with a strawberry vinaigrette
Bone appetite!

Not a great picture by any means, but given the lighting ( or lack of ), I think you all know where I was today.
