Default What is Raymond Brown's Rookie Card?

Posted By: barrysloate

Is the 1945-46 Carmelo Deportivo Ray Brown's rookie card? It's the highest priced card in the set, and I'm curious why. Thank you.

Good point. There aren't many Cuban sets issued prior to 1945 unless you go way back, perhaps before his career started (I think he debuted in 1930).

He also has a 1951-52 Denia card from Puerto Rico. That's it during his playing days.

Thanks Ryan and Phil. I knew you guys would know. I assume there are other rookies in the Deportivo set (yes, I picked up a set of them).

I believe that the other two top RC's are Ray Dandridge & Minnie Minoso

Thanks Leon. It's a pretty interesting set. Besides the Cuban and black players, there are umpires, game scenes, cards with teams logos, even an announcer card. Plus several key rookie cards, and the short-printed Reyes.
