Default Anyone Live Near GARRATT, INDIANA? - Need Help

Posted By: Bob C

I shipped some cards I sold on BST to the wrong address in Garratt Indiana, population +-5,000.
The gentleman who has them is being a real jerk - and I am being kind.
I called the local police department, but my Barney Fife experience, although entertaining in its own way, was less than fruitful in helping me get my cards back.
Now the guy wants me to send him a postage-paid envelope & he says he'll send them back. He does not want to to be inconvenienced further. I really don't want to do that.
If any board member lives in the region near Garrett, Indiana the guy is willing to have them picked up, but I can't guarantee he will not answer the door with a banjo and jug of moonshine...
I would be willing to compensate anyone for their trouble, of course.
Card values approximately $150.00.
The interesting people you meet in this hobby! I guess it's a good thing I don't collect guns...
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

If the guy who bought the cards lives in Garratt why not ask him if he can pick them up himself?

I'd like to help you out Bob as I'm only 20-30 minutes away from Garrett, but if you have already called the cops & there is a jug of moonshine in play, I'll have to advise you to send out the SASE. I'm sorry I couldn't do more Bob. Jeremy

Why don't you call UPS or Fed Ex- send them the details of your address
and ask your moonshine friend to place the cards in an envelope which
he can hand to Fed Ex and they can deliver to you

The whole exercise will probably cost you around $50

howard- the board member who bought these cards does not live in indiana. in a premature senior moment, i shipped to someone who won one of my ebay auctions...big oops...especially since the guy is less than mature.
jeremy- i sent him a prepaid fedex mailer today which he should receive tomorrow. hopefully he will do the right thing. if not i may give you a shout out...
jdrum- you need an intervention man happy.gif
bruce- you nailed it - that is exactly what i did.
let us see where it lands...depending on the outcome i will out his ebay id.
and so it goes.

According to the Indiana Attorney General's office website they advise Indiana residents if they receive supplies they didn't order that they should not pay and should not return unordered mechandise. "You may treat unordered mechandise as a gift." Indiana has had a number of scams which they have been going after involving the shipment of unordered items. I suspect this guy is being cautious and he may be concerned that if he mails it back you may claim he didn't send all of it. This wasn't his fault and in a local town he may already be aware that you called the police on him--so I would send the prepaid envelope and be very, very happy if you get the cards back.

bill stone...thanks for the interesting information regarding indiana codification but the fact pattern in this case clearly shows this, err, gentleman, likely has no knowledge of what you say, and, in his youthful zeal, is simply trying to take advantage of the situation and scam a few bucks...i have spoken to his mother.
i am hoping my prepaid fedex mailer will do the trick.
regards

At first this reminded me of the Married With Children episode where the Bundy's get a credit card in Buck's name and they go on a spending spree after Marcy tells them they can keep unordered things ---Good luck !

I thought Kentucky was the only state that answered their doors with a banjo and a jug of moonshine. Glad to see we're not alone! LOL
