Default Finally completed my favorite set all time - e103s

This set put up a fight for a long time before I was finally able to finish it! Seems like the two big runs I made at finishing this set ended with me looking for a single card for a year or two before it was done. First time around, it was Tenney, this time around, it was Matty. Just a tough, tough project, but one that was a lot of fun and worth the chase!

Anyway, here's a few cards from this particular set-run. It's a lowgrade set and I'll need to upgrade a few (or QUITE a few...heh!). But hey, some of the cards are kinda tough so you take 'em any way you can get 'em!

A big thank you to all the forum members who contributed to this one over the past few years. The help through trades, sales, etc... was really appreciated

Congrats, Brian! Hopefully by the end of this year, I'll know what it feels like to finish a set.

Brian, congratulations. I know how much fun it is to get that last card to finish a set. In my case the thrill wears off pretty fast, and then I'm looking around for something new to collect. I guess it's more fun to do the actual collecting than it is to own the finished set. That's why I (and I think most of us) would rather put a set together myself than buy a complete set.

Congrats, good buddy! My opinion is that the worst conditioned cards in your set are still very presentable. You might have some PSA AUT and PSA 1 type cards in there, but overall they're pretty, man!

Good work! What's the next project? Just the e98 commons project, or something else added to the plate?

Jimi

it's almost bittersweet to see this done. I've enjoyed watching the progress
for some time now. My E103 Leach for my type collection came from you
a long while back.
But I must say Congratulations for a most significant accomplishment, ole friend.
all the best,
barry

Nice job Brian, congrats !!!

It's interesting, what you say about the search for Tenney- what is it with this guy? He seems to be quite elusive sometimes

Thanks for posting, it's threads like this that give me hope

Sincerely, Clayton

Thank you for all the kind words, they're much appreciated! It's very touching to know so many of you were following my progress on this set! I'm thrilled to have at least one project done, although as you'll see in my list below, I've got quite a few other projects going!

To answer a couple questions - I'm not sure why Tenney is so difficult sometimes. However, I've seen more of him as of late. I had 3 Tenney's at one time. I've heard that he has a relative that collects his cards so that may be part of the shortage. The card that took a long time this go around was the Matty. Not sure why, I always thought the Matty was a pretty easy HOFer to find. It's funny, the Matty I acquired as well as the Bender and a few other cards were the exact same examples I had the first time I attempted this set.

Haha...no set break planned for the time being. This has always been my favorite set so I think I'll enjoy the cards a bit, maybe scatter em around the floor in my office a bit and try to enjoy them before I have them locked up in a bank vault for safety purposes.

A few of you asked about my next project. Heh...Over the past few years, I've loaded up my plate with all sorts of prewar set building projects. I'm still working on my 52-card e98 Master set of commons, t204s, Eunc Orange Borders, d311s, 1918 Zeenuts, etc... Lol....the e103 set looks like one of the easier ones on this list

Congrats on completing the set! As someone who's been looking for a couple of the cards from that set - I can only imagine how difficult it was to complete. Great work.
