Default 1908 Official Baseball Guide

Posted By: Pete Z.

I saw one at an antique show today and was wondering what it's worth. It has great pictures of the Cubs World Series champs, along with pictures of other greats of the game. It says it's an American Sporting or Spaulding's Publication. The binding was nice, there was some red staining through the front cover, and a small amount of insect damage in the lower right corner. He wanted $200 and I got his card. Thanks for any thoughts in advance.

I had a 1908 Reach Guide in pretty nice shape and a number of others from the years 1906 to the late teens. I sold them on ebay and usually got $75-$140 per guide. Not sure about prices on the Spalding Guides though. $200 seems hi to me unless it's in really nice shape.

The irony of the situation is that some of the Spalding guides are worth upwards of $500 to $1000 with some of the pages and pictures missing.
