Rare? No...scarce ...Yes.....if you like collecting scarce, 30's candy series with several HOF's, that aren't a lot of money (relative to others) then this is a good set. Very difficult to complete as they don't come up that often...good luck

These two UJ's (Hartnett and Foxx) were recent eBay victories by our own Dan M. We need some "R" cards once in a while for variety.

Speaking of this issue, here's one of Joe Cronin: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31721&item=5109960158.

Always looking for new items as backgrounds - the best items are ones with some color taken against a black background, if possible.

Bill

I believe the Uncle Jacks are probably the most scarce of the "regular" 30's 'R' series issues (using my definition of regular). The only other one that comes as close to its scarcity is the Butter Cream issue. GC Millers are a notch up when it comes to availability.

Been away, now I'm back,

Brian

Hope they will work. Looks like maybe you can "tone them down" anyway.

Sent them in an e-mail too.

Personally, I would LOVE to see a complete set of N162's as the background...how nice would that look?

repeated over and over. Elliot used two copies of the--Cleveland team card (I don't have time to look it up right now!). So I thought 2 was the magic number.

Some of the threads I saved still have Elliot's Cleveland team with Joss.

I was thinking off possible future backgrounds that would look nice. I was surfing Pete's site today and thought that one of his e107 scans (each includes 5 or so cards) would look really cool.

If we give Larry Corcoran the background, next he's going to want to be in the HOF... and that ain't happening.

Edited to ask Jason T. who the heck Kenny Chesney is.

Bill,
If you don't know who Kenny Chesney is, you gotta get in touch with your southern side. His big hit is "I wanna know how it feels".

How about we follow up the Kenny Chesney wallpaper with Dale Earhardt Jr. and Martin Truex Jr. wallpaper?

On a serious note how about baseball currency wall paper?

Nick

Baseball currency is a great suggestion for a background.

My knowledge of country music ends with George Jones and Merle Haggard... I can't tell one cowboy hat singer from another.

Nick - sent you an email yesterday and it bounced (your mailbox is full).

Bill,
I have always used Netscape, but their service has gone down hill as of late. Many of my sent messages never arrive and many e-mails get returned if if my box is only half full.

For you and anyone else trying to get in touch with me, please e-mail my work address ndmartinez@abm.com. It is much more reliable...

Regards,
Nick
