Default What Percentage of the 18,000+ MLB Players are represented in Your Collection?

I do not expect anyone to have an exact figure, just take a stab at it.

My collection includes complete Topps sets 1954-1980 which comes to 15,993 total cards - and I would guess less than a tenth would represent different players - say 1,550 - plus another 450 or so I have from other sets would come to only 2,000. I could 'cheat' a little and include cards from the 1991 & 1992 Conlon sets I just purchased, but that would only bring it up another 100 or so.

I got a feel there is someone out there who has a lot more represented than I do.

I probably have about 900 different players, so I guess that's about 5% of all MLB players.

My "collection" covers exactly 58 players (I have other cards I dont consider part of my collections) so that would be 0.322%.

Mine isn't even close, but last I spoke to Mark MaCrae he was trying to get a photo of every player ever to play the game and was within a couple hundred of completion. Maybe he'll jump in here, but even up to his current number is an astounding feat.

Someone on the board has an autograph collection of all players to debut since the 60s (?)

Those last two posts represent amazing hobby accomplishments IMHO

- but I'm am just as impressed by Rich's exacting qualifier - I only wish I could be that disciplined.
