Former Cleveland Brown Right Guard
Gene Hickerson died Today in Ohio
The HOF'er who was inducted only last yr
was A 6th round Pick out of Ole Miss
Regarded as the finest downfield blocker the game has ever seen at only 248 lbs
Jim Brown called Hickerson his "personal bodyguard" for the way he lead the way for so many of Browns many scintillating runs
The NFL has lost another Treasure as well as his family

RIP Gene. I was but a boy, but I remember him and Dick Schafrath anchoring that line, one that helped give us highlights we still enjoy watching. Peace to his family and friends.

Growing up in Ohio in the '60's, indeed one of the all-time Browns idols. And just another of the many afflicted with Alzheimer's. RIP #66, a legend you are...

Which was held at the same time as the FB HOF induction; there was an article in the newspaper about the beginnings of Hickerson's illness and how Dick Schrafath (sic) at the 40th Browns reunion show, signed many of Hickerson's items for him. It would be interesting to see how those signed articles compare to Hickerson's signatures from when he was healthy

A signed goal line art card has already shown up on ebay(sorry no link handy). It is PSA auth'd, but is only signed "Gene", as the seller says thats all he could sign in his condition. Writing looked awful smooth to have been signed by someone in that state. A BIN of $1800 makes it yours!
