Default 1954 & 1955 Parkhurst Wrestling

I am working on these sets. The 1955 set I am also doing it in a graded version.PLMK if you have any.Thanks.

Decided that I might as well add my 1955 Parkhurst Wrestling set Graded want list.I am looking for cards graded
3 and up to 6.For this set higher than a 6 will be too pricey for me.All cards must be graded by PSA.The only reason
for wanting PSA is because I had bought a part set that was already graded by PSA so I might as well finish it in PSA.
Not my choice for a grading company but I am trying to do what I can to keep cost down.If this does not get me
much help than I will simply pull all the card I need from another set and send them in for grading myself.Thanks.

Rob England (Wrestlingcardking) collects this set too and would be a potentially good source for cards for your sets. I suggest sending him a PM or contacting him through EBAY.

Good luck.

I listed a graded 6 card lot from the 1955 set for a reasonable price and have some 54s that i could be motivated to move instead of putting together a third graded set.......good luck, i think they are great sets that are not overly expensive.

Thank you, the set is not for the faint of heart.....there are 121 cards and there is not a lot that you can simply purchase already graded....many of the cards are sitting in collections at this time.....you will make it with patience though.....good luck!

I have 6 complete sets of the 1955 so I might just pull the best copy of each card I need and send them in for grading myself. My biggest problem is that the ones I already have graded are graded by PSA and because of the cost I would like to finish it in PSA graded. But since I live in Canada it cost a lot more to ship and pay for grading by PSA than if I use the grading company located in Canada. So I am trying to wait it out and pick up a few here and there that are already PSA graded. Like the 3 I got from you.Thanks.

I believe that you are referring to the 1954 set that had the premium backs.
Where the collector could redeem for gifts from the company.
The 1955 set does not have any different backs as far as I know.I did
see a few ads on eBay where some people call them Quaker Oats. But
Quaker Oats only did hockey in the 55-56 year. The wrestling were sold
in packs the same as the regular Parkhurst hockey. Not sure if any of
this helps.

The 1954 premium backs, how scarce are they as compared to the regular cards?

Cards were also distributed as a premium in pack of potato chips.

These cards are stamped on the back: "Valuable card Davy Crockett's Potato Chips Reg'd".

These are very scarce, and when found are usually in poor condition.

These might be the "Quaker Oats" cards you are referring to. Although I don't know if the Quaker Oats company was the manufacturer of Davy Crockett's Potato Chips.

I suspect they are 3-4 times as scarce as the regular backs. (at least that was the case when I sorted a large quantity of the cards a decade ago)

I don't think they were short printed.

Possibly, many were redeemed for prizes. And many may have a tendency to stay in collections, rather than find their way to market.
