I got a complete set of Metropolitan Studio St. Louis Cardinals. There are 30 cards in the set, 7 HOF'ers including Branch Rickey.

They were all glued to scrapbook pages. Also glued to some pages were a few Wheaties box cutouts.

Default Toronto Show Pick Ups.

Super heavy on the hockey up in Toronto. Did find a couple pre-war. Picked up these two T206's.
CrigerCasey.jpg

Best part of the show was meeting HOFer, Gaylord Perry.

I was hoping to go today but opted to work O.T. instead.

I may, (but not likely), attend tomorrow, mainly due to the fact it is likely mostly hockey, especially with the big UD RC hockey release.

Sunday, my son has hockey in the morning himself (I'm the assistant coach/trainer) so I likely won't be going then either?

How was the crowd today, and was there much baseball, mainly 52 Topps available that you seen?

There was not much baseball at all. Vintage or modern. I wasn't particularly looking for 52' Topps, but someone did have a low grade Mantle. As for the rest of the set, I recall seeing some, but nothing that you couldn't get on eBay , and probably for a better price.

It was pretty busy. Must have heard the name Austin Matthews a thousand times today. Got annoying, what can ya do.

Marty.

Cut a deal with an ebay seller for this Marquard today. This makes my 49th T206. Im making very slow progress on collecting these but I am really enjoying it. Now if only the price of N172 would go down to about forty bucks each I can't seem to get off the ground collecting those.

In case anyone was wondering how my Needham back turned out here it is. I may try to soak it again to see if more of the glue will come off.

Default Paddy Livingston "Big A" T207

Picked up the last variation I needed of the 3 Paddy Livingston T207s, The "Big A" version, which has a Napoleon back.

Now I have all the catchers in the set minus Irving Lewis.

So would this be the rookie as the Zeenuts have him as a minor leaguer?

One would think that would be the theory. This set is from 1936, and therefore predates his 1938 RC.

There have been a few auctioned off through REA over the years, if you look at their past results.

Kind of on an AB kick.

Nice to add another Pied. 42.

Tougher Sov. and a PB

Now at 70% "backs" between PB and Pied. 42 ...... no end in sight

Fun stuff, Scott

Thought this was a cool pinback. I had never seen it before. It has the same images as the Cameo Pepsin 1897 Toronto pin but set up completely different with the images of the players around the old Canadian Flag. It is about the same size as a Cameo Pepsin pin as well...

I got this 1933 R306 Butter Cream card of catcher Herold (incorrectly spelled Harold on the card) "Muddy" Ruel with the scarcer "Sept. 1st" back in last week's MHCC auction to join my example of this card with the easier "Oct. 1" back. Ruel spent the best 8 years of his 19-year MLB career with the Washington Senators, and one thing he is remembered for is scoring the winning run in the 12th inning of the 7th game of the 1924 WS, which provided Washington with its only WS Championship to date (maybe next year the Nats will win it!) and made WaJo the winning pitcher in relief. I love it when a pickup fits both my type-card collection and my collection of 1924 Senators players.

Greg, I am truly jealous. Beauty, and with what the T211 Manush went for in LOTG last night, I'm sure that is one valuable investment. I have around 25 T211s, but nothing comes close to that baby!

Yeah, I was shocked I got that Red Sun at "decent" price. I guess it's what you dream about in big auctions, that a piece you want just slips through cracks with so much else to bid on. Usually you hope and bid and then get crushed, but once in awhile you luck out. And luck is the key word.

Ed,

Thank you. I was debating going after the D380-1 Pattee, but I didn't want to get into a bind. Congratulations on your two wins!

The Pattee is cool, I love the ovals, but I love that name "Don Carlos Ragan." These were my wins, I already have Kelly in a Brunners and Marten, so now I need the Weber and General Baking:

Default Beautiful T211 Red Sun

Greg,

Congrats on picking up a beautiful T211.

I'm still waiting for one of the few catcher cards in the T211 set to add to my collection.

Patrick
