Default March Pickups...

I don't usually post in the pickup threads, but I want to start March with a thank you to Bryan (Jobu) for pointing out this one that arrived today and has been on my want list for a long time. I likely overpaid, but with these only coming up in what seems like 18 month gaps and missing the last few...I could care less.

Happy with this one. I missed out on a low grade one that the Detroit Pawn guys sold on eBay last year. This one fits my collection to a "T" and is proof another will come along eventually!

I sent out a message on bst for a nicely centered e90-1 Cobb with good color and image. I thought I would get no response because these cards are so tough to find centered. Not only did a member respond with the perfect card, but it is the very card I had been angry that I missed on REA. Thank god for n54.

Awesome Cobb, Orlando. By the way, I sent a pm saying the same thing but autocorrect turns Cobbs into Cons when I hit send. Stupid spellcheck.

Actually my comment on your pickup caused Bryan to point this auction out to me.

It all worked in a perfect circle.

Some new mid-tier backs. All but one are from board members, including another epic trade with Scott. I wish more people on here wanted to trade. Thanks guys!

Default New Highlanders and some Yankees...

I am a wood artist and recently I decided to sell some of my old vintage tools. I got the money and bought some cards for my Highlander/Yankee team type collection. Last two days I have looking out the window waiting for my Postman. I'm very happy today.....

Default I am starting to warm up to these pre-war type cards...

Got these three Old Mill cards from another member of the board (thanks Ben!) and I absolutely LOVE them!

I think I am starting to get hooked on these little tiny cards. I am up to three of these, two T206, three M116, and one Old Judge.

I didn't acquire the entire Cleveland commons subset in February/March, but I did receive the last one I needed (Terry Turner) in March. I also knocked off 2 more T206 HoFers that I got for steals of deals, and the eBay seller was so nice I wanted to throw him a bone and buy 2 more of his auctions. Got the '62 Cassady (Go Browns; I know, I know, y'all are sorry for me) and a nice Boggs RC for my HoF PC. Hopefully my next March pickup is the house we're waiting to close on...

Nice Steinbach card. I know Ben had two but he is a tough one in Series 7. He is just a hoarder lol

Thanks!
I am sitting here, doing homework, and my Steinbach is on the table right in front of me! I think he is my favorite. That is, until Ben talks me into buying more of them! Lol.

Now that's a project I can get behind. Very nice looking one there, Andrew! Best of luck on the set. Trying to get them all with a certain grade or just going strictly by eye appeal?

Really, just eye appeal (but usually around 3's and 4's), and centering must be good. Still need Heinie Wagner and Eddie Cicotte. Wagner is tough...

Default March

So these came today. The little red one the fedex driver decided to leave on my front porch without signature. Thank goodness I was home quickly to get it!! Dream card #1 down. Cobb not bad either. Cobb will be shipped off to PSA for a new shell.

Nice pickup on the house, KMayUSA6060...

My latest is rather humble by comparison...my first DeLong of one of my favorite pre-war players...

Special thanks to Brian Van Horn for a smooth transaction and for working with me on this purchase...your patience is greatly appreciated...

I forget in which capacity he knew George, whether it be an encounter on the ball diamond, or somewhere around Akron through work. Nonetheless, awesome card.

Thanks for the congrats, Brian!
Thank you, Kyle.

Happy to add this one. The crease isn't too bothersome for me, and kept the price down.

Jon, that Ruth has good color and eye appeal for an 8! The card isn't a four due to lack of color or registration, that's for sure. Beautiful beatiful card. Congrats!

Last night, as I did my daily Cobb-check on eBay, my heart skipped a beat when I saw this card up. I had to do a double-take to make sure that it wasn't the Wagner that has been on eBay for a bit. I don't really know exactly what it is that I hope to find on these daily searches, but this one fits the bill. I couldn't hit the "buy it now" button quickly enough.

Orly,

That is fantastic. Getting this today has my hands shaking when I opened the box, so I know how you feel. It has been a long time since I added to my Harry Sutor run, and having Weaver in it is a bit of a bonus.

I don't get usually jealous when I see all the nice pickups - I'm happy with my collection and you can't have everything - but I'm going to make an exception for Ed's San Francisco team card. I am bright green.

Congrats Ed. I think I cost you a few bucks but that is a great card. They were always one of my faves in my collection.
