Default Mets - Martin, Ryan, Seaver

Recently picked this up, have done little research, honestly no clue what it is. Has anyone ever seen this card. The guy I bought it from claims it is hand cut from unknown source, has sold several over the years, but does not know specific origin. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I bought one a while back maybe 2 years or so ago. posted it a few places and never got to the bottom of it. back then he told me he only had 10 or so. saw a few more that sold over the days, one that was even scuffed up a bit...

never found any info on it, basically came to the conclusion that it's a homemade card and he's leaking them out slowly making $25-$50 a pop....

would love to be wrong...

Default Don't know if it's helpful or means anything,but.....

I don't recall ever seeing Ryan or Seavers name written that way - First initial followed by balance of name spelled out.

Default Never Seen It...

I'm guessing this is a modern creation using scans of team photos from circa 1970. Something about the typesetting does not look authentic to the era.

It is from the back of this album. Click the "More Images" link.

Default Thanks

Dude, thanks a lot for figuring this out. So does this mean its a card? Looks like the intent was for it to never be a card - so is it not? An old Bazooka box cut out has the dotted line, so the intent was to be a card. An old Wheaties box back, like the 1935 picture frame cards never had dotted lines, so are they "cards", or simply box cutouts that were never intended to be "cards"?

Default Amazing Mets record album

If you look at these on eBay under completed listing, the whole album cover with the record do not command much money. A cut out of the album cover should be worth even less, unless mistaken for an obscure issued baseball card

I would not consider this a card. Never intended to be cut down.

I wouldn't either, but it's nice to have the mystery figured out and to know its not a guy in a basement manufacturing it...

I went ahead and bought a record though...just in case I want to turn it into this:

Nice ID job. It is always a relief to get information like this on an oddball type item.

Reminds me of the time when I bought the Don Newcombe "un-cataloged card" on ebay that turned out to be cut from this fairly common old timers day sheet.
