Jason

Wow! Nice pickups man. I really like Strasburgs and Harpers a lot.

Nice way to start the pickups thread.

Default Jeter

Just got this back from PSA. I'm not really a modern collector, but I think this is a rare Jeter RC that not many people are aware of. And also a big thanks to Net54 member Robert Williams for letting me piggyback on his PSA submission!

It's very rare. 1/20 factory sets, IIRC.

Probably 100x rarer than the silver hologram version

Ahh. I knew it was either 1:15 or 1:20. Too many years and beers ago.

Couple more of this year's Indians. Usually, I piece together the starters every year, with just whatever cheap rookie I can find. For some reason I felt like doing auto rookie/minor league cards this year..

Picked a lot of 2 of the Ubaldo's for cheap, and the Reynolds works even better for me, because I was always a fan of Atkins too...Can't believe the wheels fell off so fast on that guy.. Maybe it was just the Coors factor?

ubaldo is a headcase. also his arm may've been ruined that one year when he had the great 1st half.

I agree. Dude may never figure it out again. I think the problem with the first half he had the one year, is that he may be setting the bar too high for himself now because of it.. It's creating an even larger contrast mentally between his current struggles, and what he thinks he really is. Aside from a few kinks in his delivery, I think he has to learn to trust his defense, and not nibble so much. That and keep the ball in the park..

There's a few guys that I think are/were/will be, in similar boats, as far as constant nibbling, frustrations and then just flat out falling apart. You know, the ACE type guys who seem to rack up the strikeouts, but run up their pitch counts quickly and often struggle to get past 5 or 6 innings..

Scott Kazmir was very similar(although there were some minor injuries that played into it). Lincecum fell victim to it last year. I could realistically see a similar situation coming for gio gonzalez in the near future..

Got these four in today:

I really need to get cracking on the vintage stuff. I have a couple more cards I want, then I can go hog wild on what I really want.

Default Topps Heritage

I had a set of the 64 Topps Tattoos and put together a set of the 2013 "tattoos" to go with my 2013 Heritage set, and then picked up this for "fun"

Default Starline pre production?

I picked up these 1990 starline cards. I think they're some sort of pre production card, but I've never seen them before. If anyone knows anything about them, please chime in.

The Starline Cards were made for Long John Silvers restaurants in 1990 or so although as I recall they do not say Long John Silver on the cards.

I ate a lot of bad meals at LJS and have several sets somewhere. A quick ebay search shows they are almost worthless.

Your "proofs" or whatever they are are cool.
