Default 2016 goals for prewar cards

Anyone have any card goals for just this year. I usually just wing it and get whatever interests me when and if I have the money.

Default 2016 Goals

Keeping it very simple this year - one Old Judge "A" list player and one Old Judge "B" list player. I'll be happy to hit 50% of that target.

Add at least 1 E121-80 Giant or Yankee to my 1921 World Series collection, add more to my W572 strip card collection, add to my T207 Cubs with different backs ( more specifically Napoleon backs), and keep my 1951 to present Topps and Topps update Cubs set.

Get MUCH closer to finishing my T205 set - all variations, (except Hobie - No Stats, Walsh - Pink Diamond, and Collins - Yellow Elephant)... ONLY 33 more to go, including those 3! Then upgrade it, probably indefinitely...

MAYBE start The Monster, just in case I have extra money lying around!

My main goal is to add a Hugh Duffy card to my OJ collection. Aside from that, I'd like to add 10-15 more OJ's.

try to remain slow and steady:

1. t205 complete the set (one of each player - no variations)
2. t206 upgrade the set
3. try to not start any new collecting projects
4. improve my prewar type card set.

One goal only this year:

A nicely centered 1933 goudey gehrig with nice registration.

On a personal note.. I love to attend the National this year.

Of course there is more that I want to add to my collection, but that can come next year.

Find a t215 Fred Merkle. That was also my goal last year and two years ago.

And find something cool that catches my eye, aT206 Young portrait, or some Grignons, or something else.

Yes, I have bat on left shoulder AND bat on right shoulder

...... oh wait you probably mean the Flying Dutchman, not the former Red Sox captain.

I do have a great looking Honus Reprint with a Broadleaf back that I really like a lot!

I really wish I'd done this for 2015, because I have no idea what my collecting goals were at the beginning of the year, and it would have been interesting to see where I ended up. Anyway, for 2016, in no particular order (can you tell I'm a set builder?):

(1) Finish T209-1 set (currently 13/16).
(2) Add 10-20 cards to 1934 Goudey set (currently 25/96).
(3) Add 6-12 cards to T205 set (currently 26/208).
(4) Add 20-30 cards to 1953 Bowman set (currently 83/224).
(5) Pick up one exciting prewar card unrelated to my sets.
(6) Don't do anything stupid, like buy a case of modern stuff.

My goal for 2016 will be a more modest one than in the past. I would like to finish off one more T210 Series im close on. And hopefully pick up another Richmond Colt T209 or two. I was fortunate enough to add two in 2015.

[QUOTE=CharleyBrown;1486140]One goal only this year:

Great card when you can find one with these attributes. Took me a long time to get one. The hunt is fun though!

I'd like to add,

T206 Matty white cap
T206 lajoie throw or bat with a tougher back
T206 Young bare hand
E92 Matty Croft's Cocoa

Oh, would also like to add a Cobb bat off to finish the quartet.

I usually end up with cards I had no intention of buying so we shall see what 2016 brings.

1. Double my T206 collection from 50 to 100. Would like to include one Cobb in there somewhere.

2. Finish my 1934 Goudey set, at least the low numbers and get close on the highs.

3. Find a T204 of Andy Coakley for my 1908 Cubs players collection.

4. Finally start working on a 1953 Bowman color set.

5. Collect the 2016 Heritage set and make sure not to dwell around the shiny stuff any more than this.

This is how it usually plays out for me as well. My goal last year was to complete my Mantle run, and instead I bought a few cards that were no where near my radar. Goal for next year, pre-war, is a nice 33 Gehrig, a N162 Anson, and a green t206 Cobb.

Postwar: Finish Mantle run.

Default finish

my higher grade or lower grade Goodwin Champion sets. Anson and all but a Dunlap down but some of the NS cards are more elusive. Maybe a dozen missing in each.

SHAMELESS PLUG - finders fee and silly price paid for an N43 Ginter champions Edwards boxer.........

Default 2016 Goals

My 2016 goal is to continue with more catchers in the T207 set, pick up a few more T206 catchers with American Beauty backs, and maybe pickup the handful of cards that will complete my catcher card run in sets like: 1910 Old Mill (Thoss,) 1912 zeenuts (Claude Berry,) 1912 Home Run Kisses (Ralph Kreitz,) and lastly add some catcher memorabilia.

Hoping to acquire a much more focused list this year:
1) t206 Matty Dark Cap
2) 33 Goudey Ruth 149
3) 34 Goudey Gehrig 61
4) t206 Cobb Bat On
5) t206 Cobb Green (might have to rethink this one considering I'll be bidding against half the board, it seems)

Odds are, I'll acquire one of the above, buy a T3 or two, pickup some unnessary stuff at the National, and start and stop building e93, 41 Play Ball, 14 CJ, and Delong HoF sets, leaving my collection even more disparate than it is today.

1933 Delong Gehrig

1933 Goudey Ruth #53 or possibly a #144.

If I have either of those in hand in a decent 2-4 grade by next New Years it will have been a good notch off the big list.

I hope to add to the Monster, though I'm not sure who, how or when.

2016 goals:
1. Try and obtain a lower grade 51 Mays (sold my 7oc)
2. Cobb Bat-on T206 (low grade 2-3?) to complete my 4 cobb run and make a nice display.
3. Wishing for a 33 Ruth someday??
4. Might grab a Wagner piece
5. Might do some upgrades--like a RED CoBB Lenox back.

Postwar-
1. Not much here- Rookie wise ..seems to me i be focusing more on pre-war this year.

I doubt that you can find one of those for sale anywhere.
