Default Tony Bennett

The word legend is overused, but not in this case.

RIP Tony. There wasn't a lot of class acts like Tony. He was actually in a class by himself.

RIP. Everybody seemed to like him...young and old. Always seemed to support the artists who came up after him.

I was 21 in 1994. In between Thanksgiving and Christmas that year, 92.7 WLIR (or WDRE) ran a promotion that if you brought a can of food to the venue (Mercury Lounge) you got to see a Tony Bennett concert. Well, Carol Vassallo and I took some cans of corn to the venue and saw a little 3 or 4 song set by Tony Bennett.

That was the first time I was at the Mercury Lounge...first and last time I saw Tony Bennett. He did not disappoint.

Class guy and an old school gentleman. For years the SF Giants have played his song "I left my heart in San Francisco" after every Giants home win, good memories.
