Default Stupid collectors

Saw this on Ebay showing that the Ruth ball didn't pass PSA and they are showing a cert from STAT and there is still 8 people at the moment bidding on this ball. Why are people so stupid to think it still is real. http://www.ebay.com/itm/HOF-Auto-Sig...item53eec23bf5

The question should be how come there are only eight bidders on this junk?
There are dozens of crooked resellers who would love to own this ball and put it in some rinky little auction or sell it from their store front.
Why would a seller with 28,000 feedback even attempt to sell this crap?

the bids are most likely from flippers who want to get it cheap and will try to flip it later. It will be on pawn stars in a few weeks.

Or from bidders who are too lazy to read the paragraph of description of the ball. He does have PSA/DNA listed as the authenticator in the item specifics at the top of the page and "Full Sized Letter COA" in the subtitle. You would be surprised how many bidders can't be bothered to read past the title, maybe as far as the item specifics, "but surely you don't expect me to read a whole paragraph describing it, just let me bid already!"

I think the OP's subject, "Stupid Collectors," says it all.

Almost looks like one of those reproduction balls that that one guy on Ebay was hawking a few months ago that has been talked about on here before.

Would Drew Max agree with PSA or STAT? That is the $64,000 question.

The other option could be that someone wants a ball as a conversation/display piece, without being able to afford/want to worry about displaying an authentic baseball. I agree that the ball should be marked in such a way to make sure future purchasers know its fake. Certainly not saying its for everyone, but I'm at least happy this guy makes an attempt to say the ball did not pass PSA.

That Ty Cobb is very similar to examples sold on CC. The ball has been removed.
