Default 1967 mantle punchouts

psa finally acknowledged the 2 lineups
and then 2 days later they change their mind and will no longer label them
so i will always have 1 of 1s and the highest graded

Very nice cards. I am surprised they won't at least recognize the background variations.

As noted, nice cards but the stripping of detail makes no sense.

SCD does list the pose/background captain variations for Mantle, Clemente, F Robinson and Alou. Does PSA have those in it's master CL ? I only pursued those and not the lineups like Larry. Have to have some limits A Killebrew collector on CU had also mentioned their change of position on the lineups

Larry-- do you still need any of the line up differences ? Also, any other captain variants your are aware of ?

Default Wow

Even the PSA captains checklist is messed up. They list a captain checklist of 92, which includes 91 different captains and two variations of Mantle. I think Larry and I have 86 different captains and believe Campaneris, Gibson, Grote, McMillan, and B Robinson (all included in the PSA checklist) do not exist. I think Bob Lemke and SCD concur.

On the other hand, the Mantle variation ( background not pose) is less striking than the Alou, F Robinson and Clemente pose variations ( Robinson appears in different team uniforms), and should be listed

Unless Larry knows of another captain variation, the PSA, and CL should likely be 90.

Also, no one on the Registry has a full set of captains, although if the 5 non existent players are removed, the two guys with sets get closer

i dont go by cropping variations
i count lineups all cropping variations have different lineups
there are 86 captains only.. and either 1 2 3 or 4 lineups for that captain
as listed in the book...so psa can easily label the holder as they did
no reason not to

Default 91

Since I do not do all the lineups I will be satisfied with 86 captains and 4 captain variations. I have 89, missing the 2nd Cemente

Default Cropping

Agree on the Mantle but PSA and SCD list them both. I do not have both Clementes but having seen them the angles look different. Is it just a crop difference too ?
