Default I want to buy a collection...Whats the best way

Ive been thinking and i want to buy a large collection of 50s and 60s stuff. Im looking to buy an entire collection for a reasonable amount of cash. What is the best way to do this? Should i search garage sales, thrift shops, and craigslist? Or should i buy a collection at a show, card shop, ebay, or fellow board member. I could use some advice, so im asking people with experience of doing this to give me your opinion. Sort of looking for a steal so tell me the best way to aquire a lot for a little . Also if you are interested in selling a lot or collection, lmk. Thanks

Default 50s & 60s

I think you will find most folks with a large amount of 50s and 60s stuff are going to want to sell you a little for a lot. Never hurts to ask though.

you could find bargins on Ebay, but beware of fakes and reprints...reccomend buying graded ones, unless you have knowledge what to look for.
You can also bid at auction sites..theres some at decent prices...I been told Clean Sweep has some and B&L is nice as well. then theres the bigger ones like Sterling, Heritage, Hunts, etc.
finally, go to the B/S/T thread here. People here trading or selling.
People will try to get BV from sites from VCP (Vintage Card Pricing) and SMV (PSA)

As Chris suggested, I'd say auction houses are your best bet, especially if you don't have specific wants. The auctions often have 'grab bags' or 'shoebox' lots from 50's and 60's containing several hundred cards sometimes.
