Default A very rare uncataloged set from 1972

I found this set after years of searching for the Wilmer Mizell card, whom I thought was pictured in full Cardinals uniform. After receiving the set, I learned that is was not Mizell, but James Symington wearing the Cards uni.

This set was issued by Sears, Roebuck, and Co. in bubblegum packs, for the 1972 Roll Call Congressional Baseball Game. The annual game was played at RFK Stadium.

Previous info on this set is scarce, the only reference I could find was this auction result from Huggins & Scott from nearly 7 years ago. They had a lot of 17 sell for $100

http://mar07.hugginsandscott.com/cgi...pl?itemid=3815

The lot I won has 36 cards including every card listed in the Huggins & Scott auction. I'm guessing it is a complete set.

The cards measure 2.5 x 3.25". The backs are identical except for the player identification.

I also have 5 pages of documentation from this set/game that I can post if anybody is interested.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the set since Mizell is not pictured as a Cardinal. I thought I would share this info with the board, and any input is welcome.

Default Mizell not the one in Cardinal uniform

I picked up the Mizell card on ebay about a year ago and was disappointed he was not in a Cardinal uniform. The mystery is finally solved with Congessman Jim Symington being the one in the Cardinal uniform. He represented the St. Louis area and his father was Senator Stuart Symington who was instrumental in Kansas City getting an expansion team when the Athletics left for Oakand.

When Charlie Finley pulled the A's from Kansas City after a long fight Sen. Symington called Oakland "the luckiest city since Hiroshima".
One of the best parting lines I've heard from a politician.
