Default 1961 Topps errors/variations

Another newbie to your forum. Can anyone tell me the errors/variations in the 1961 Topps baseball set? I have this set completed and upgraded, but would like to add errors/variations now. Thanks.

Default 8 variations on the checklist cards

I list the following variations on the checklists :

#17 - red boxes are higher or even with names

#98 - Red front or yellow front, back of yellow has number in either white or black box (so, 3 variations)

#189 - 2 different copyright symbol locations on back

#273 - 2 different copyright symbol locations on back

#361 - ad or no ad on back

#437 - Luis or Louis (Aparicio)

#516 - cropping on front picture, grass below up, or no grass below ump

I don't have scans at the moment, but will try to post them soon.

Default 1961 variations and recurring print defects

On 189 there is a front difference as well...on the player on the far left his # 4 shows or does not show

On 203, Bressoud,on the front there is an often recurring blue streak to the left of his cap. I have seen several and have one extra one someone can have if they want it ( it is one however that I upgraded)

On card 271 Landis, his bat is either within the black border or extends into it by varying degrees

On 361 there is a front difference too---topps baseball is black or yellow

I just want to say welcome to our forum and THANKS for finding the right place to post this question. Our post war side doesn't get quite the action as the pre war side, as this forum was started about 10 yrs ago as ONLY pre war. A lot of our members collect newer cards and here we are. Please let me know if you ever have any questions. I am almost always around to help!! take care

Thanx for the info Alr.

I'm curious if the front variation on #189 is separate from the back, meaning are there more than two variations?

On #361, I believe that the "ad back" card has the "Topps Baseball" in yellow on the front and the "no ad back" has "Topps Baseball" in black on the front. So there are only two variations, not four.

I didn't know about the #203 and #271 variations, I'll have to track them down.

Thanx,
Doug
